About this listen

A Navy SEAL fights the most important battle of his life - love - in New York Times best-selling author Lindsay McKenna's Shadow Warriors miniseries.

In the mountains of Afghanistan, her daring rescues have made Medevac pilot Sarah Benson a legend. She loves taking her helicopter where others fear to fly - the danger, the adrenaline…and the distraction from thinking about her own hurt heart.

U.S. Navy SEAL Ethan Quinn is man enough to prize Sarah's valor as well as her beauty. But his efforts to reach his beautiful colleague cannot pierce her armor. Can he prove that it's possible to find love in a war zone?

Captive Sweetness

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No, this author is not for me. I purchased 2 of her action hero books as I love the reader and G.Z. does action heros very well. This author wants to write a sweet romance under the guise of a military op. This is NOT my type of listen

What could Lindsay McKenna have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

this author is for romance readers who want a sweet and TENDER hero. this is about a gal who overcomes her childhood and helps others in war, as she could not help herself when she was very young.

What about Gabra Zackman’s performance did you like?

G.Z aka Isabelle Gorden does such wonderful male voices. She translates the author's intended theme of their book. G.Z. did a wonderful job on this listen. I just wish she would read authors that have a faster pace in their material. Her I.G. reads are good and hot. I hope you enjoy her as much as I do. She can read in the range of Natalie Ross, who can do yummy male voices.

Was Risk Taker worth the listening time?

No, I had to stop. Sweet and tender are not for me, but they maybe for you.

Hard to believe

I can’t imagine a SEAL writing poetry! Also I don’t like sex scenes so I fast forward through them. I did like the pilot’s determination to save wounded SEALs and Marines.
I also thought the narrator did a wonderful job.

Well written, but...

risk taker is a well-written story, the characters are believable the drama isn't artificial and it actually feels believable.

unfortunately, the elements of the story around military protocol are completely fictitious. the author didn't do quite enough research and, as a result, the primary conflict in the story which is the enlisted/officer romance wouldn't actually be a problem in the real world. the reason for this is the fraternization is only a problem when the individuals are in the same chain of command with one in authority over the other.

as a result, you have drama that isn't.
