About this listen
I made two promises after my brother died: to run a charity marathon in his place and to avoid Jeremiah Dermot at all costs.
So when my car’s broken down on the side of the road while my parents are at a retreat to save their crumbling marriage, of course Jeremiah’s the one who pulls up and offers to give me a ride.
I don’t care how handsome he is when he looks at me with those adventure eyes or that any other girl would give everything to drive across the country with him. No, I’m thinking about my brother and the little boy in hospice he wanted to run this race for.
Now I have two choices: break a promise to my brother, or take a road trip with my enemy.
Get lost in this story that makes you feel in ways you've never felt before. Road Trip with the Enemy will leave you breathless, restless, smiling, and believing enemies can have a happily ever after.

Sweet and touching romance
This was a very sweet and touching story of young love and loss, it will make you laugh, it will make you cry. What could be worse than breaking down on a road trip to fulfill your brother's mission? Having your brother's best friend, and your enemy, offer to take you on the road trip with him, if course.
This is my first experience with author Kelsie Steltung and she did an excellent job with this story. While the book is mainly a hate to love story with plenty of humor, the two main characters are also dealing with the death of a loved one. Ms. Sterling gives a realistic view of how people individually deal with death and how grief can rip through family.
Narrator Joyce Oven did a wonderful job telling the story. This is my first exposure to her as well but I look forward to hearing other books narrated by her.
I laughed a lot, I cried a little. I would definitely recommend this book to others!

Sweet
This was an enjoyable book to listen to. The main character’s feelings changed a bit abruptly a few times throughout the story, but given the circumstances, it wasn’t too detracting. I was happy that the main goal was accomplished.

love after grief
I have twin daughters and can't imagine loosing one of them or how the one left would feel. The book was filled with grief, but also hope. Loved how Jeremiah wouldn't give up. Will their road trip be the end of the next beginning for Sydney and Jeremiah? Beware there is more than one moment of sadness and grief but at the end I was left with a smile and a sense of encouragement and joy. You might cry but not stop reading - life is full of sadness and joy. The narrator did a great job of switching voices and making me visualize each of the characters.

Sweet and sad
This book explores young teen love but it also revolves around loss and hurt. Grief makes people do irrational things. Plus when someone dies un-expectantly there can be a lot of blame and guilt. I have experienced it and it is hard. I kind of thought that Sydney was being a little harsh on Jeremiah. But as I say grief makes you do things you normally wouldn’t. Plus I think when you are young it is even harder because you lack the maturity to handle your feelings. But as we know it is common when a child passes away for the parents to split. So Sydney ultimately does better than her parents.

A very well done story
Rating 4.5 stars
I will not summarize this story because it was already given in the description of this book and I do not want to give any of the plot away. The purpose of this review was to give potential readers information to make an informed decision about reading/listening to this book.
What I enjoyed:
• This story caught my attention immediately.
• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. I felt a part of the scenes.
• Death and grief are hard subjects to write about. The author did a wonderful job. This is a great read for those mourning, especially for those who feel they are somehow responsible or should have miraculously prevented it.
• Anger is a critical part of the grieving process and the author did a realistic representation of how it effects people.
• The narrator did an excellent job in differentiating the various characters' voices. This was the perfect voice for young adults.
• The pacing of this story was neither too slow nor too fast.
• The plot was not predictable.
• There was a smooth, coherent flow to this book.
• This story had a satisfying ending.
• This was a clean story, except in two places. The crude words used were used as a shock factor to snap people out of self blame. None of the words were the "F" word. There was no gratuitous swearing by characters. There was no sex.
I requested a free audiobook from the author. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I will be listening to or reading more books by this author. I will also keep a lookout for books narrated by Joyce Oben.

So Good!
This book was so good and a very hard topic, grief. I did an all nighter to finished this book. I just couldn't not know how it would end. Would Sydney get to do the race? Would Jeremiah and Sydney find room in their grief to be friends again? Would Sydney's parents be able to save their marriage? I could go on with more questions, but Kelsie Stelting didn't leave any question unanswered and dealt with the pain beautifully. I highly recommend Road Trip with the enemy if you like clean stories with purpose.
