About this listen

Cameron Horne has it all: an intelligent, beautiful, and loving wife, a great home, and a successful and important career. His life is the American dream come true. Until things begin to change.

Without warning, he exhibits strange behavior he can't seem to control, loses time and memories, has horrific nightmares, and finds blood on his hands that may or may not be his own.

When a mysterious young man who seems to know the future begins appearing in Cameron's backyard, things go from bad to worse. As voices and visions flood his mind, and shadowy figures watch his every move, something deep inside him comes awake, manifesting in acts of extreme rage and violence.

Is he losing his mind, or is something evil stalking him, possessing him from within and turning Cam from the mild-mannered man he's always been into someone else...something else....

The truth is coming for Cameron Horne, and there's going to be hell to pay.

You aren't always who you think you are

Great dark psychological thriller. Is Cam losing his mind or is he really someone else. When everyone calls you a different name and things you thought you knew aren’t always what they seem you may be losing your mind. Or maybe you aren’t and something bigger is happening. Plays on one of my biggest fears and does it quite well.
I enjoyed this story. Kept me on my toes. Lots of different things going on and it gets weird and wicked. Amongst the overall story are a few bits of some crazy things that come out of nowhere. Cam is trying to figure out what is going on in his life and we are along for the ride of trying to get to the bottom of his behavior and who he truly is. Definitely a crazy ride. The ending was way out there and really tied everything together.
Steven J Cohen did a great job with the narration. First time I have listened to him and was very happy. He did a great job with character voices and really got me into the story. The story was tense and Steven worked it well.

Gifune’s prose sucked me in from the beginning

Rogue is the story of a man losing his mind, but not only that; Rogue is much more. It is a story in which nothing is what it seems. Gifune’s prose sucked me in from the beginning, and even though this was not my favorite genre, it kept my attention until the end. Please note that there are demonic presences in this book, which may delight some, just not me.

The ending was unexpected and somehow fitted the story perfectly. It reminded me of one of David Lynch’s movies. I am not going to say which to avoid spoiling the story, but this ending was a masterpiece and made everything worth it.

I still think that the book was a bit long-winded, and the final twist would have suited a shorter story too. It was very well written though, and I found myself often relating to the main character.

The writing was very good but to make this work, the narration needs to let it shine, and Steven Jay Cohen’s was the perfect fit. He not only brought the characters to life but was able to transmit Cam’s torment and anguish in a way that I was suffering for him. The audio production was spotless.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Very Dark Story

I really liked this book. This is the second book of Greg's that I've read and I'm really starting to dig his style of writing. This is the story of Cameron Horne, a guy that works for the state of Massachusetts keeping track of sex offenders. Odd and inexplicable things start to happen around Cameron and the plot of this book is mostly about him trying to make sense of it all. He, of course, feels that he might be having mental issues but no- all the unexplained stuff happening in his life is quite real. Warning: there's sort of a "Sixth Sense" type of twist to the ending and you'll probably smack your forehead and say "Duh" when everything becomes clear. A++ book.

The narrator, Steven Jay Cohen did a great job with his voice "acting" out this book. His authentic Massachusetts accent and his ability to do a truly scary voice when the story called for it was quite impressive.

Crazy Psychological Thriller with great Narration

This book starts building the suspense very early, and keeps it going through the novel. This book kept me engaged throughout the story, and I really enjoyed the story. I don’t typically listen to psychological thrillers, and I don’t want to speak too much about the story, because it’s hard to describe without spoilers. The narrator did a great job, and he had the perfect voice for the main character. Overall, this book is worth a listen, especially if you enjoy psychological thrillers.

Rogue By Greg F. Gifune

There is horror, and then there is HORROR. Greg F. Gifune really hits the mark of the latter with this story! Dissociative Fugues alone are horror enough. The main character then goes through pure hell to find out what's going on in his life. Terrific story, with Steven Jay Cohen doing excellent narration. Well done!

Great trip. Buckle up and enjoy!!!

This was my first Greg F. Gifune book and I was not disappointed. The psychological distress of possibly losing your mind is mapped out in detail here. The story keeps you on edge and wondering what is truly going on with the narrative. The ending is quite shocking and excellent. I am definitely looking forward to hearing his other Audible titles.

Steven Jay Cohen was awesome. His voice conveyed the un-surety of the main characters predicament. He does an everyman perfectly. definitely one to watch for.
