About this listen

San Francisco pastry chef Mary Ryan is back teaching at her old alma mater, trying to straddle the worlds of both her original mentors and her contemporaries. To make matters worse, Homicide Detective O'Connor has enrolled as a student, claiming to be on disability from the San Francisco Police Department.

In the middle of this turf war, Mary is confronted by the dean, Robert Benson, who tells Mary she must either force Coolie Martin to leave the school or lose her job. Why would Coolie's father, a member of the Board of Directors, allow this?

When faculty and staff begin dying, Mary thinks that Coolie's forced exit might only be part of a larger, more sinister plot. Acting on a hint from O'Connor, Mary contacts the only person who can help her: her nemesis, Thom Woods. Will Mary and Thom uncover the truth before another chef bakes his last pie?

Critic reviews

"Sexual tension, cooking tips, and a neatly packaged mystery. All in all, a tasty tale." ( Kirkus Reviews)

Would you listen to Roux Morgue again? Why?

Yes, I just spy enjoyed the listen, unlike reading style books there is always something you missed and may pick up from a second listen.

What other book might you compare Roux Morgue to and why?

Any fictional with some factual details about cooking in it. I am a chef with five degrees and as of June hopefully six, I am also a full time officer. Cooking and pastry is my passion, being a officer is my daily dredged job.

Which character – as performed by Christine Williams – was your favorite?

The intuitive, needy chef that had to start over.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but due to my catering business and my job as an officer that was impossible, so I just backed it up a little every time to refresh where I was at.

Any additional comments?

I will listen to this at LEAST one more time and keep it in my library.

Excellent
