Once again another brilliant tale of our anti-hero Flashy. The story is terrific and performed beautifully by Mr. Case. If you like Flashman you'll blast through this hilarious read.

A rousing romp all around. The narrator was excellent and the fiction historically accurate for the times. I enjoyed this volume of the Flashman series even more than the first in the series.

The fictional memoir of a British officer who is, he openly admits, a poltroon. Some of his language is offensive, so listen with headphones. Engaging tale. Terrific narration.

David Case was born to be Flashman, he reads these books with such nuance, panache and superb comic timing. Satire, adventure, swashbuckle, history, the Flashman books are a composite of all these things, based on the conceit that the bully, coward and womanizer, Flashman, (the despicable character from Tom Brown's School Days), became a career soldier and subsequent hero, many times over, as revealed in the Flashman papers. There are no other books quite like these. Highly recommended to everyone who loves classic English novels and black humor.

In his own words, Harry Flashman is a "poltroon." So when he gets enmeshed in a desperate (yet oddly familiar) plot, watching him twist and turn is a joy. The book is well written, interesting, and clips along. The narrator does a great job. Just an enjoyable historical novel that is well worth listening to.

Finished my first Flashman about a month ago and went on to other authors because having been so delighted by Volume One, wished to “pace myself” through the entire series. But with the conclusion of Royal Flash I just don’t know if I can wait…and just might have to binge listen through them all. The cynical rascality of ‘Flashy’, his deadpan delivery and historical insights are, in a word, Uproarious. And David Case brilliant reading conveys Our ‘Hero’ with all the picaresque character Fraser must have intended. Singularly Outstanding!

Stand-out reading by David Case.

He has just the perfect feel for the narration and covers the many characters so well.

And, of course, what a rollicking story by Fraser!

This is my second book in the series and I can confidently assert that I will want to read the entire 12 books this way.

There is also a movie of this book which was done in the 70”s. I don’t remember being quite as engaging as this but am going to seek it out to compare to this reading.
