About this listen

When Lilith Whitmore, the well-heeled House Corp president of Alpha Delta Beta, appoints recent empty-nester Wilda to the Rush Advisory Board, Wilda can hardly believe her luck. What's more, Lilith suggests their daughters, both incoming freshman, room together. What Wilda doesn't know is that it's all part of Lilith's plan to ensure her own daughter receives an Alpha Delt bid - no matter what.

Cali Watkins possesses all the qualities sororities are looking for in a potential new member. She's kind and intelligent, makes friends easily, even plans to someday run for governor. But her resume lacks a vital ingredient: pedigree. Without family money, Cali's chances of sorority membership are already thin, but she has an even bigger problem. If anyone discovers the dark family secrets she's hiding, she'll be dropped from rush in an instant.

For 25 years, Miss Pearl has been housekeeper and a second mother to the Alpha Delt girls, even though it reminds her of a painful part of her past she'll never forget. When an opportunity for promotion arises, it seems a natural fit. But Lilith Whitmore slams her Prada heel down fast, crushing Miss Pearl's hopes of a better future. When Wilda and the girls find out, they devise a plan destined to change Alpha Delta Beta - and maybe the entire Greek system - forever.

This book was definitely one if my favorites to listen to. I loved Ms.Pearl and Aunt Fe. All of the characters in this book were great, even Mrs. Withrock came around after eating humble pie. I can't help but ponder on whether Annie was the daughter that Peark gave up for adoption.

Awesome book, from start to finish.

I found myself making extra errand runs just so I could listen to the next chapter.

Couldn’t wait to hear more

At first I thought this isn’t for me, but once I heard Pearl, I was hooked. I loved all the characters, even the hateful. This is about and for women. Fun & excellent

Great story, who knew?

the whole first half of the book was about sorority rush in the south…rush details got a bit tedious, but the story finally started turning into a story. i’m glad I stuck it out.

sorority life

As a Southern girl raised by a traditional South Georgia DZ who made sure I grew up without prejudice, I loved this book. Ole Miss and Oxford were both portrayed to my recollection as a student there. Well written and accurate in detail.

Much if the story was true to life, according to my personal experience with sorority life in the south.

Great Story

Loved the voice of Pearl..(B.Turpin) looked it up! Overall, loved the history revealed, for those that needed to know what it was “Really like” in those days in the South. Pains me to see a lot still exists in the South, I’m in NC. Mostly, I enjoyed it as an engrossing and very well written story. Brought each character to life helped by the excellent narrations. 5 stars all the way!

Too Long But Too Good To Stop

I admit I wasn't really interested in the book at first because it was about sororities which I knew nothing about, but I decided to get it because it was at a discount and the story seemed interesting. It also seemed like light reading promising a feel good story. I just needed something light. I listened to it in between a couple other books and later, I could not put it down. Great listening and I'm glad I started it.

Not usually something I would read, but glad I did
