About this listen

Join the millions who have fallen in love with New York Times bestselling author Carolyn Brown in her landmark hundredth novel.

At the end of her rope, single mom Lily Anderson is determined to move her rebellious children in the right direction. That means taking away their cell phones, tablets, and computers—at least temporarily—and moving to the house where Lily grew up in the rural town of Comfort, Texas. But Lily has a bigger challenge than two sulking teens.

The house comes with Mack Cooper, high school teacher and handsome longtime renter. The arrangement: just housemates. But Mack’s devoted attention to the kids starts to warm Lily’s resistant heart. Then Lily finds an old leather-bound book in which five generations of her female ancestors shared their struggles and dreams. To Lily, it’s a bracing reminder about the importance of family...and love.

Now it’s time for Lily to add an adventurous new chapter to the cherished family journal—by embracing a fresh start and taking a chance on a man who could make her house a home.

Down home good

Every time I read a Carolyn Brown book set in Comfort Texas, it's like going home. Brittany Pressley knows how to make her books come to life. Loved the read!

The Family Journal

I really enjoyed this book and author. I've read several of her books, but this was my first audio which I really enjoyed. It's the story of a woman and her children coming out of a broken marriage and going back to her small town roots. Good reading!

Sweet family story.

I love this book. It was a sweet story about family, with a little bit of slow romance.

Beautifully Written and Narrated

The Family Journal is a story of life, love, and relationships told in a movie format, so enjoyable from start to finish.

Like a breath of fresh air

The story tells of struggles, mistakes, strength of a woman suddenly in single-status with children . Children who are being snarky and do not understand the struggles that their mom has ensured and the results of decisions that she handles with humility. I also appreciate the historical portions, diversity, ever-so-slight mystery and intrigue.

Great read

Good book, would have been better if the author didn't throw in as many cuss words. Other than that it was clean. I thought that Brittany Pressley did a great job with the performance.

5 ⭐️not enough

I come from a small town and I have two girls this story touched my heart and my soul. If you’re looking for a good storyline and escape from your life but also something that relate to your life this is your book. I feel five stars is not enough for this book I could give it 10 if I could.
