About this listen

One girl.

Three fighters.

Two of them want her, but one wants his revenge.

Jealousy runs deep in this steamy, romantic suspense novel by NYT and USA Today best-selling author, L.P. Dover. Find out what happens in the highly anticipated conclusion to Ryley's story.

UFC Middleweight fighter Ryley Jameson swore it would never happen again. He was done with his ex, and over the pain she'd inflicted when she left him. At least that's what he tells people. Maybe if he says it enough, he'll begin to believe it himself.

Regretting her decision to let Ryley go, Ashleigh Warren comes back into town and confronts him. Holding only one secret back, she puts the rest on the line and asks for a second chance. Too bad he's not going to let her off easy.

Camden Jameson loves his twin brother, but his jealousy runs deep. They may be identical in looks, but that's where the similarities end. When Ashleigh comes back into Ryley's life, Camden has the perfect opportunity for revenge. Two birds, one stone. A journey to the dark side effects them all, but only one will truly get their revenge. Only one will come out on top.

Jealousy, Love and Possible Second Chances..

Any additional comments?

* a Few Spoilers *

I don't say this too often, but.. It was almost too much going on for me.
There were many names, many characters, and a lot of "back story".
I might have to re read or listen to this story after starting from the beginning.

Ryley, the male lead, and Ashleigh, the female lead, break up and Ashleigh goes back to Colin.

Ashleigh decides that she wants Ryley back for several different reasons.

Every time Ryley sees Ashleigh, he gives her the cold shoulder and pretends that he doesn't care about her anymore.

Now enters Cameron, Ryley's twin brother, Cam wants to keep Ashleigh and Ryley from ever getting back together. Cam's part almost felt like a Jerry Springer episode.

Overall, this book was a fact paced entertaining read.

Melissa Moran did a good job with the narration.

Ryley's Revenge

What did you like best about Ryley's Revenge? What did you like least?

Ashleigh was a strong character. I liked her.

Ryley's Revenge is a NA book which means both Ashleigh and Ryley make mistakes.

Because of their age and the setting of the book, I give them a pass for behavior I otherwise would have disliked.

Ryley was frustrating at times and deserved a good kick, but that is a given in NA books these days.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I liked the combination of romance, action and mystery. The family dynamics and the good friends (and sometimes bad influence) surrounding both Ashleigh and Ryley.

Life is full of the good and the bad, and you need to decide who to keep by your side and who to let go.

Have you listened to any of Melissa Moran’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Great narration by Melissa Moran.

Ryley's Revenge has various characters, all of which Melissa Narrated beautifully.

she knew how to capture Ryley's sweet loving side, as well as the fighter in him/

her narration of Ashleigh captured her character accurately.

This is book #4 in the series, but thanks for the narration, you didnt feel like you missed anything, but jumped right into the story.

Do you think Ryley's Revenge needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No.

I think the author left the H/H in a good place.

All relationships need work and they will also need to keep the passion and love.

I was satisfied with the HEA and don't see the need for another book.

Drama-filled, Second Chance Love Story!

After reading some of the other reviews, I was skeptical about listening to Ryley's Revenge book two (book four if you consider the two novellas books .5 and 6.) in the Gloves off series, without going back and listening too the other stories. However, I went ahead and listened, and "WOW" this story was a really good! Yes, there's history, but honestly this one's more of a "second chance" love story versus a "meeting and falling in love." I enjoyed it enough, I've already wished list book one, and will be on the look out for the other books to be released in audio.

I love a WIDE variety of romances from clean, cute, sweet, funny, dark, erotic, dangerous, steamy, and suspenseful; I love them all, and I felt this story had a good balance of some of the attributes I look for in a good romance. The plot was slightly on the darker side, and full of drama; especially with the secrete Ashleigh had. There was also drama building from the jealously between Ashleigh's ex-boyfriend and Ryley.

In addition to the drama, there's suspense, and an air of danger as Ryley's brother, Camden, tries to break Ryley, and Ashleigh up by any means necessary. Camden even resorts to challenging Ryley in an underground fight, where MMA fighters have been know to be killed. Rounding out all the drama, suspense, and danger, the relationship and love between Ashleigh and Ryley become solid, and the sex scenes were really hot!

This was the first book I've listened to narrated by Melissa Moran and it was GREAT! I enjoyed her performance, and liked both her male/female voices.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest opinion, and have to say "I liked it! The story started off a little slow, but as the plot unfolded it really grabbed my attention, and brought me right in, and held my attention to the very end. I'm definitely looking forward to continuing this series! If you like your MMA romances with a slightly darker plot, this is a story you will want to add to your collection.

Good but not thrilling

What did you love best about Ryley's Revenge?

I enjoyed the characters openess once they started to communicate. It was still angsty without there being a ton of "misunderstandings" or obstacles. Though it started out with a bit of a misunderstanding, it was not dragged through half the story before it was resolved. I also really liked that the heroine realized she couldn't run away from her problems, or avoid things.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I feel that the obstacles that were put in their path were not very strong ones, that would warrant being called revenge. It may have been a tremendous personal conflict fore Ryley, but it didn't feel like his motives for revenge were strong. If the conflict was greater or more angsty in would have provided a stronger intention for the reader to feel the revenge was warranted. As it is a lot of things almost happen that makes him want revenge, and it just made me as a reader feel like it fell flat for his reasoning behind it.

Which scene was your favorite?

I really enjoyed the romance between Ryley and Ashleigh. Though he was slightly jealous at times, he showed her that she meant more to him than their obstacles. My favorite scene takes place at the end of the book in the field that has become their field. I don't want to spoil it so I won't go into detail.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen to this book in one sitting because I had the time to do so, but if I had any real life interferences, I'm sorry to say I would have easily been able to put it down and picked it up later again. It held my attention but it did not give me the feeling like "I can't miss a minute this book is so great" that other books by this author have.

Any additional comments?

Mellisa Moran did a phenomenal job with narration. Truthfully I feel she helped keep me interested in this story. She had good inflections while telling this story, and it helped to feel the characters on a more emotional level. I don't think I would rate this book as a 4 star without her, she helped make it better overall. I obtained this book from audiobook boom for my unbiased review.

Ryley's Revenge

3 Ryley Stars

Ryley & Ashleigh

I liked book 1 well enough. And book 2 has some of the same characters. You have the ones your rooting for and some you want to strangle haha.

In the beginning I didn’t like Ryley, I think because he acted more like a teenage then whatever age he is. But when he finally let Ashleigh speak, he redeemed himself.
Also not taking his brothers side made me like him more.

I am a love hate relationship with Ashleigh, her going back and forth from Colin and Ryley only made more friction so when she finally made a choice I liked her again.

I like Gabriella of all of them she is my favorite.

Meh.

I'm sure the book is fine, but the narrator drew it out and her voices were flat. It made for a boring listen and after about 45 minutes I lost interest. Also, maybe i just need to read the first book but there were so many characters and obvious inferences to either, past books or future plots and it just took away from the main plot of the current story. It felt like the writer was writing more of a soap opera than a novel and it took focus away from where it needed to be.

Exciting Love Story Loaded with Angst!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It was a good listen - narrator was very good, story was interesting and kept my attention.

What about Melissa Moran’s performance did you like?

She was very dynamic. Loved her different tones/inflections for different characters. I never had any doubt about which character was speaking.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The fight at the end didn't necessarily move me... I loved it and hated it at the same time! It broke my heart and I wanted to "look away" but at the same time I was cheering for Ryley!

Entertaining

Any additional comments?

3.5 stars
This is the second book in the series( third if you count the novella's) and while it was an entertaining and enjoyable listen I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I had read the novella A Fighter's Desire which sets up the events in this book.

Even though you could listen to this book as a stand alone, I would say start with the novella's for the backstory involving the main characters.

This is a very angst filled second chance at love story which also involves a love triangle of sorts. Romance, suspense, steamy scenes, secrets, misunderstandings, pride, revenge, jealousy all woven into a drama filled HEA story.

Melissa Moran did a really good job with the narration. Pleasant voice, easy to listen to. Smooth even pace. She was able to convey all of the emotions of the characters. Great character voices both male and female. I have listened to several books she has narrated and have enjoyed them all.

Too Sweet Romance, Too Little Depth.

Any additional comments?

Maybe I needed to read the previous books but I received a free copy for review from Auduibooks Boom. I don't see how reading 1, 2, or 3 could change the depth of the characters or emotions. It was a sweet enough romance but just icing sweet. There wasn't a two layer cake beneath it. I love a HEA ending but not enough obstacles in their path made me expect it. The lack of research about genetics makes the ending more like a fairy tale than a modern romance.
There were a few grammatical errors that caused me to pause but overall, it was well written. I have returned books when they couldn't hold my attention and this one grabbed it in the beginning and held it enough to listen to the end. That is saying something.

Great Book!

Any additional comments?

This is a great book; this is the fourth volume in the Gloves Off series written by L.P. Dover and narrated by Melissa Moran. This book can be listened to in one sitting if you have the time, once I started listening to it I didn’t want to put it down until the end. When Ashleigh comes back into Ryley's life, Camden has the perfect opportunity for revenge. Two birds, one stone. A journey to the dark side effects them all, but only one will truly get their revenge. Only one will come out on top.

The narrator Melissa Moran did a great job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to in one sitting and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.
