About this listen

Thirty-four years ago, Violet Sullivan put on her party finery and left for the annual Fourth of July fireworks display. She was never seen again.

In the small California town of Serena Station, tongues wagged. Some said she'd run off with a lover. Some said she was murdered by her husband.

But for the not-quite-seven-year-old daughter Daisy she left behind, Violet's absence has never been explained or forgotten.

Now, 34 years later, she wants the solace of closure.

I really enjoyed this book up until the ending. What was the killers motive? Throughout the entire book we were taken back in time and given a look inside what happen with each character. But the author failed to complete the story by taking us back to exactly what happen in detail to Violet the night she was murdered. All I have to say is there are a lot of unanswered questions and a good story doesn't leave you hanging. Sorry, to the author because I always enjoy her books and this one look very promising, but I still want to know what was the motive.

I just recently found this series and started listening to them. I would finished one then start on the next on in the series right away! I have no idea what I am going to do when I get to "Z", but this book is in my Top 5.

I hope everyone else enjoy's these books as much as me!!!

Would you try another book from Sue Grafton and/or Judy Kaye?

Yes.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

As is often the case with Grafton novels, the ending was rushed and left so many unanswered questions. I like more closure.

Ending didn’t make sense.

Good One

This was a fascinating and suspenseful story. I did enjoy the flashbacks to events in the 1950s that laid the groundwork for the eventual solution to the mystery by the 1980s era Kinsey Millhone. But there were also some truly raunchy sex scenes, which I’m not used to in a Grafton novel.

S is for a surplus of sex

This may have been my favorite Sue Grafton novel from this series. There is shifting timeframes and numerous characters that make this story slightly complicated for an audiobook. I read and listened and I am glad that I did both. But the story and the narration are very good. Thank You.

A Very Good Mystery, Well Read, Slightly Complicated

I liked this story. It was fast-paced and kept you guessing as to who the culprit was. I was compelled after listening to this book to read others by the same other and am currently reading R is for Ricochet. Would recommend this book to anyone.

Really Good

Good, entertaining, mystery. Liked the character detailing. The narration was very good. Found the story line a bit of a drag in several places. Well worth the listen.

NICE LISTEN
