About this listen
The ultimate beginner's guide to learning SQL - from retrieving data to creating databases!
Structured query language, or SQL (pronounced "sequel" by many), is the most widely used programming language in database management and is the standard language for relational database management systems (RDBMS). SQL programming allows users to return, analyze, create, manage, and delete data within a database - all within a few commands.
With more industries and organizations looking to the power of data, the need for an efficient, scalable solution for data management is required. More often than not, organizations implement a relational database management system in one form or another. These systems create long-term data "warehouses" that can be easily accessed to return and analyze results, such as, "Show me all of the clients from Canada that have purchased more than $20,000 in the last three years." This "query", which would have taken an extensive amount of hands-on research to complete prior to the use of a database, can now be determined in seconds by executing a simple "SELECT SQL" statement on a database.
SQL can seem daunting to those with little to zero programming knowledge and can even pose a challenge to those who have experience with other languages. Most resources jump right into the technical jargon and are not suited for someone to really grasp how SQL actually works. That's why we created this book. Our goal here is simple: to show you exactly everything you need to know to utilize SQL in whatever capacity you may need in simple, easy-to-follow concepts. Our book provides multiple step-by-step examples of how to master these SQL concepts to ensure you know what you're doing and why you're doing it every step of the way.

And a growing mountain of clinical research correlates screen tech with disorders like ADHD, addiction, anxiety, depression, increased aggression, and even psychosis.

New to SQL
Where does SQL QuickStart Guide rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This one ranks in the top 5. I recently started listening to audio books and this book is really good. I already had a little experience with SQL but this book really opened my mind to more knowledge and understanding of how the software works.
Who was your favorite character and why?
This books is about understanding SQL software, so there are no characters.
Any additional comments?
The book breaks down the fundamentals of how SQL works and shows you the different elements of SQL. Good listen and good information.

Learn SQL
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this to someone who knew a little bit about SQL and wanted to learn more - however the companion PDF is mandatory as it was very hard to listen to a bunch of characters. I knew nothing of SQL before, and have only a very basic understanding of it now since it's not something I can practice with or try out.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, this is not something I was able to listen to all in one sitting. It's a lot of information to listen to and process.
Any additional comments?

Listen w/ training material or book, not by itself
While the title was well-produced with great, clear narration, it's a training audiobook that is best consumed at home or in an office where listeners can easily refer to the training materials supplied with the audiobook, or the book itself. Listening to this without these materials handy (say, in a car) will most likely bore or confuse most listeners. Gripping fiction or true story, this title isn't... :)
Well worth the time and cost if you are new to SQL and databases.

A Great Way To Learn or Get Started in SQL
"SQL QuickStart Guide" is actually a great way to learn structured query language. This can be difficult and I would suggest the accompanying material that will be in your library as a PDF along with this audiobook and with this combination one should be able to get a good idea on how this works. It's specific programming language and honestly if someone's a quick learner they could possibly bypass a lengthy tutorial or college course.
Dave Wright's narration was impeccable. It was clear and easy to understand. He walks you through each step and there are enough different examples to where one can pick this up fairly easily. Nice job.

Great for a study companion
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get into, or refresh his/hers knowledge on SQL.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Wanted, no, mostly because of the technical nature. However one could easily listen to it in one sitting. It's quite easy and pleasant to the ears and not very lengthy.
Any additional comments?
Wanted to refresh SQL's syntax and structure and I stumbled upon this book and decided to give it a try. And I have to say it hit the spot. I listen to it while on hikes and I could easily follow the technical terms and the narrators voice. Although I haven't tried it, this books comes with a companion book also, in order to study better.
However SQL being something technical, nothing beats practical application, in order to get better.

Excellent introduction
Well laid out and organized. Actionable introduction to an intimidating area of information technology. Not sure how useful this will be without the companion hard copy or kindle version, but I really enjoyed getting my ears and mind on this notoriously difficult topic.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I don't speak Nerd
It may as well have been written in Chinese because I didn't understand a thing about it. I'm not a programmer but the terminology was clear and straightforward enough so programmers should have no problem understanding it.

Should be consumed at home
Where does SQL QuickStart Guide rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Like any technical book/audiobook its best to have the cited references from the audiobook in front of you to fallow along the audio book. Since its a beginner's guide most listeners probably won't understand the references off the bat. Its best to have the visual references on hand to better fallow the content of the audiobook.
