About this listen

Life has taught me that I can't trust anyone. Not friends, not family. In the worst, darkest moments, no one can be counted on to have your back. Even a billion miles away from Earth, on a remote icy planet, I still feel alone. The only consolation? I haven't resonated. It's not that I don't want love or children. I just can't trust anyone, even myself.

But then one day, my khui resonates, and it's to the last guy I ever expected. In fact, I resonate so hard that my chest is singing its mating song before his does. That never happens.

So what does a calm, rational, grown woman do when life turns upside down? She runs for the hills, of course.

I should have known he'd follow me.

Contains mature themes.

It was so cute!

Sam is fierce! But I knew Sessah was her mate. I just had a feeling . . . A "knowing" lol! But A LOT happened in this book didn't it. And everything happened for a reason and the way it was supposed to. And dude! Daisy!!! It's really sad what happened to her. I can't imagine. But at the same time, she really needs to focus on something other than her looks so I feel it's necessary and I hope her and O'jek's story is next.

Good Read!

I’ve seen these books around for years. I couldn’t imagine reading anything so silly. I’ve read all of Ice Barbarians and almost all of Ice Home. I plan to complete most of Rubys stuff.

I wasn’t prepared for Sessah, the adult. Where did he come from? What happened to the happy-go-lucky teenager? He might be the naughtiest of all the men.

Love this series

Rubys icehome world is always a fun and sweet ride. I love that Sessah finally gets his turn. We’ve seen him grow from a young boy excited about everything to a male who can be as bad as all the others, while still keeping that boyish charm.

Sam's Secret

This story was a little scary for Sam a the beginning. I am so happy her story got happier by the end of the book. I can't wait to listen to Daisy's story next. I already read the ebook, but I love to revisit these characters with an audiobook. The narrator did a great job reading this story for us fans of Ruby Dixon.

Spoilers!!!!!!

I really enjoyed the narration like usual with Sean crisden and felicity munroe. And again ruby dixson does a wonderful job bringing a new and exciting listen again. I love this whole series. Sam is an interesting character, she is scared of men because her ex boyfriend used to stalk her and threatened to kill her and no one would help her. Cessa (I’m not sure how to spell his name) is her resonance mate. He is Ihacos, and rokons ( I know wrong spelling ) younger brother and was described as a teenager in earlier books but now he is all grown up and ready to head to the beach home to find his mate. Sam runs away and he follows her, of course :). They find something interesting and dangerous after they have been traveling and hanging out in the fruit cave. I’m not gonna totally ruin it so enjoy the read because I did. Just as good as all the ones before it and I can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Ice home awesome

Ruby never fails to impress. The story takes us back to the fruit caves, but there’s a twist in the end. It is a delightful cougar story.

Great Story

I love how Ruby takes someone with issues and walks through their recovery and the struggle to cope. The narrators however took away from it for me. They weren't awful, just not great. The female narrator was stilted when narrating but had a few good moments when doing dialogue, unfortunately they were FEW. There was a lot of halted speech (think original James Kirk from Star Trek). Other times she sounded like a junior high mean girl. Just not a fan and I wouldn't have purchased this if it were any other author but Ruby writes amazing stories. The male narrator was better just not amazing like Mason Lloyd and those must be some hard shoes to fill. And why do they have to mangle names to place emphasis on the last syllable. We have how many books from IPB now and they want to reimagine how to pronounce names we've been listening to since the original IBP book? I comes across as forced and detracts from the story.

Sam and Sessah

This is one of my more favorite books of the series, Sessah is such a sweetheart, hard not to fall for him. Sam has a hard time coming to terms with her past and an abusive boyfriend. Luckily, she ends up with the sweetest of guys. I recommend listening in order starting with the Ice Planet Barbarian series. Got the series with my Kindle Unlimited and was able to purchase this for the Whispersync price. Narrators are great, I do tend to use speed 1.25x, just because I have so many books to read, and this speed doesn’t ruin the narration.

The humor on the she gives the natives just tickles my funny bone.

I enjoyed this book very much.

DV survivor disclaimer

I think this book needs a disclaimer. This triggered my PTSD from DV. It's hard to listen to the last 2.5 hours. I love the whole series and Ruby is an amazing author. This book left me anxious and actually hit too close to home to be comfortable. I had to listen in short increments in order to get through some of the story line.
