A tragic accident took Rome Matthew's wife, Diana, and it robbed Sarah Harper of her best friend. Sarah wanted to reach out to Rome, but she knew she needed to stay away, guarding the secret she had kept from him and Diana - that she was in love with her best friend's husband. But now Rome needs her. Sarah agrees to be his wife, and something totally unexpected rekindles her hidden hope that a marriage of convenience will become a union of love.
Will Rome keep fighting his own growing need for a woman who dares him to believe there are second chances in life...or will he give in to the power of love and miracles?

What did you love best about Sarah's Child?
I agree with the reviewer who said that this was a very sad story . Unfortunately this is a very true to life situation . I have known a lot of women who have settled for much less than they should've received in their relationships with men . Much like other reviewers I struggled to not be frustrated with Sarah and her passiveness and not be angry with Rome and his selfishness . Pain makes us selfish . And as old as we are childhood experience shapes future relationships. I don't agree that this is not a typical Linda Howard story because what is a typical Linda Howard story ? She is the brilliant storyteller. She is also my go to author whenever I want to be assured of purchasing a book or audiobook that I will enjoy reading. Up to and including this book it's a given everyone of her books I've read I've liked. And the stories have been unique. I do very few actual written reviews I usually just tap the Stars and have done with it. Believe it or not I feel like this is a necessary story and it's necessary for women to read it and is necessary for us to realize that even though this society relegates to us to the keepers of the relationships and the onus is ours if that relationship fails. Remember, we are only 50% of the equation, our feelings matter and we shouldn't settle for less than what we deserve.Have you listened to any of Amy Landon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I believe this is the first time I heard Amy Landon narration and she was superb. She is a very good narrator. I would love to listen to more of her books!Well worth reading
