Publisher's summary

They’re the best of enemies—both in need of a change—thrown together by a challenging twist of fate in a warm and witty romance by New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst.

Tessa Harper, makeover queen of a self-care media empire, loves a challenge. But when she’s forced to satisfy her female readership’s growing interest in sports, Tessa reluctantly seeks out Ford Maddox. The popular sportscaster, annoying friend of her bestie, and long-time sparring partner agrees to strike a deal. He’ll give Tessa his expertise if she’ll give him hers. Namely a makeover to help him get past the friend zone with the woman of his dreams.

Ford has always considered Tessa to be nothing more than a pampered elitist. But if she can turn his rough style and attitude into boyfriend material, it’s worth the aggravation. The plan is working. The problem is, Ford’s also starting to see Tessa in a new light. And there’s more to the complicated woman than meets the eye.

Ford is falling hard. But is he ready to give up his ideal love to take a chance on an opinionated, independent spitfire who’s turning his life—and his heart—upside down?

Critic reviews

“Narrators Lynn Wright and Alastair Haynesbridge combine their talents to breathe life into the romance between Tessa Harper and Ford Maddox.… Wright and Haynesbridge seamlessly alternate passages, with Wright narrating from Tessa's point of view and Haynesbridge from Ford's. Both narrators embody Tessa's no-nonsense, capable personality. As the two grow closer, Wright and Haynesbridge transition their voices from combative to more playful tones. Wright and Haynesbridge's strong performance makes for an enjoyable listening experience.”AudioFile Magazine

“Probst paces the transition from enemies to lovers perfectly, with a hero and heroine whose snappy dialogue and gentle bickering rings true. A solid supporting cast—especially the returning stars of previous books—adds charm. Readers will cheer Tessa and Ford along their road to happily ever after, even when that eventuality seems remote.”Publishers Weekly

Good Story

Audible needs to go back to allowing reviews by Stars only. Why did they change it?

My ears are bleeding

This review is not exactly fair to the author. I only got parkway through the book and my ears are bleeding. I don't typically write reviews but i just had to on this one. I listen to a lot of books. I listen every single day. I could not get past the female narrator. It was like listening to a preteen with a fake accent try to sound sexy. It was grating and so off-putting. The first two books were excellent with great narration. This one is torture. The story may be good but I can't stomach the female voice. What's with the accent? Where did that come from? Why so high pitched and girlish? She is supposed to be a grown woman who is seen to be really rough and tough, a real go getter (according to books 1 & 2). This voice made her come off weak and childish. Please don't bother. Read it on Kindle instead.

Tessa is from Atlanta?

I never leave reviews but the voice for Tessa is torture. I'm from the south and I'm usually ok with urban southern accents but I'm not sure I can finish the book. I feel like I'm at a classroom story time.

Best outcome!!!

I loved both of these characters! They both learned a valuable lesson to always be true to yourself. Swoonworthy performance from both narrators!!! Such a wonderful story!

When did the characters become southern?

If you haven't listened to book 1 & 2 then enjoy this book . Unfortunately I listened to book 1 & 2 and none of the characters spoke with a southern twang . Now the female voice is southern and it's hard to listen to. The male voice when he narrates no twang . Needs to be constant when your listening to a series .

Decent book, terrible female narrator

This has been a decent series. The first book was definitely the best, but this one was fine. However…the female narrator was terrible. Every sentence ended as a question or exclamation. It was incredibly distracting and annoying. Alastair Haynesbridge is a great narrator. I would have much preferred him to do the entire book.

Sweet slow burn, fake relationship

💕💕Book Review 💕💕

Save the Best for Last by Jennifer Probst

Save the Best for Last is the 3rd book in the Twist of Fate Series, but can be read as a standalone.
This book is a good enemies to lovers, opposites attract, fake dating vibe with two strong willed, and independent personalities Ford and Tessa. Tessa is a smart, sassy, complex, rough around the edges, tell it like it is, Independent woman who has her own media company but bites off more than she can chew and solicits the help of sports broadcaster Ford Maddox. He’s sweet and kind, career focused but also a lot more chill than Tessa. He in turn needs help with a make over to pull him out of his current slumps and get the girl. There is a lot of banter, verbal poking, and snarky behavior. But opposites attract, and their mismatch soon turned into more and sparks fly. Loved seeing the friendships and their updates and storylines continue. Great read! The narrators did a great job with character switch and kept me engaged

Cute frenemies to more story

Cute story but just didn’t feel the chemistry between Tessa and Ford. Glad that they finally got their HEA.

Female narrator

This book would have been so much more enjoyable if the female narrator would not have been so painful to listen to. The accent (or whatever that was) & her entire reading inflection was just annoying & made it very difficult to stomach. I would have preferred the male narrator read the book. The author’s first two books were great - too bad the narrator changed for this one. How disappointing!!!
