About this listen

An enriching story of family ties, broken hearts, and second chances from New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst.

When Ethan Bishop returns to the Hudson Valley, his body and spirit are a little worse for wear. As a former Special Forces paratrooper, he saw his fair share of conflict, and he came home with wounds, inside and out. At his sisters’ B & B and farm, he can keep all his pain at a safe distance. But quiet time isn’t easy when a fiery woman explodes into his life...

It’s business - not pleasure - that brings Manhattan PR agent Mia Thrush reluctantly to the farm. Tightly wound and quick tempered, Mia clashes immediately with the brooding Ethan. Everything about him is irritating - from his lean muscles and piercing blue eyes to his scent of sweat and musk.

But as the summer unfolds and temperatures rise, Ethan and Mia discover how much they have in common: their guarded histories, an uncontrollable desire, and a passion for the future that could heal two broken hearts. But will their pasts threaten their fragile chance at a brand-new future?

The Start of Something....

Well you have Sebastian York to listen to so that right there is a positive. Although I have to say in this story, Sebastian seems a bit tired. Like maybe he's narrated one too many romance books in a row or something. But it's still nice to hear him. Madeline Maby- also Grace Grant? voice? was ok. Her voice gets a bit irritating sometimes. This has about 3 different story lines happening in it. You've got Ethan's, Chloe's, and Mia's. Nine hours is way too long. The book started out very slowly- I almost stopped listening. I stuck with it though. I don't think it would've been so slow in the beginning if a lot of the backgrounds had been shortened and just gotten going with what the book was really about. Of course there was sex. I fast forward after the first couple of those scenes cause it gets boring listening over and over again about it. There was push and pull with Mia and Ethan. She really does not start out as a likeable character at all. A snobby, bi**** actually. She gradually eases up a bit. Ethan is quite likeable as are his sisters. Overall, not a bad listen. Just too long.

A nice listen

This was a nice enemies to lovers opposites attract romance, with horses 🐎 I remember someone asking once. There are some steamy scenes but not too graphic if that's your preference.

Sweet book! Stormy love with great weather due!

OK, there were so many parts that had me chuckling. Hey Hey the chicken for one. I can always count on Jennifer to make me laugh, and even swoon a little at her real, intense and realistic guys and their dialogue. And, ya can't go wrong with Sebastian and Madeleine! I really liked the uniqueness of this book.. and how they both were willing to compromise at the end. It's a good read, er, Listen!

Jennifer Probst Just Gets Better

I started with the “Marriage” series, worked my way through the “Searching” series, continued with the bachelor builders, and was thrilled to learn about this new series. It didn’t disappoint!
York and Maby do a great job with the narration, too.

Lovely storyline, excellent male narrator but...

I really enjoy stories by Jennifer Probst and Sebastian York is an excellent narrator. Madeleine Maby was not good at all in her male voice, not consistent in her narration as Mia thank goodness, as she starts out stilted and over-enunciating, good to as more normal flow, returns to the former, and the pattern repeats through-out the story. As the male voice, she made a intelligent former military ops male sound sound like a Southern dumb hick - quite off the mark.
The story itself was a solid story of Chloe maturing, Mia redefining what she wanted in life and Ethan's return home and reintegration into his family's farm with Mia's unknowing help. It was well developed, with believable main and supporting characters that I identified with either myself or someone I know.
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Terrific Story, Bad Female Narrator

This story was terrific, heartfelt and funny! It was the female narrator that kept pulling me out of the story. Sebastian York was great as always but Madeleine Maby's voice is really bad. I almost stopped listening but the story kept pulling me along and I gritted my teeth and listened as the female lead read her part of the story. Just beware of her narration and you will really enjoy Jennifter Probst story!
