About this listen

Father of the Bride meets Sixteen Candles in the latest novel from New York Times best-selling author Morgan Matson.

Charlie Grant’s older sister is getting married this weekend at their family home, and Charlie can’t wait - for the first time in years, all four of her older siblings will be under one roof. Charlie is desperate for one last perfect weekend before the house is sold and everything changes. The house will be filled with jokes and games and laughs again. Making decisions about things like what college to attend and reuniting with longstanding crush Jesse Foster - all that can wait. She wants to focus on making the weekend perfect.

The only problem? The weekend is shaping up to be an absolute disaster. There’s the unexpected dog with a penchant for howling, the house alarm that won’t stop going off, and a papergirl with a grudge. There are the relatives who aren’t speaking, the (awful) girl her favorite brother brought home unannounced, and a missing tuxedo. Not to mention the neighbor who seems to be bent on sabotage and a storm that is bent on drenching everything. The justice of the peace is missing. The band will play only covers. The guests are all crazy. And the wedding planner’s nephew is unexpectedly, distractingly...cute.

Over the course of three ridiculously chaotic days, Charlie will learn more than she ever expected about the family she thought she knew by heart. And she’ll realize that sometimes, trying to keep everything like it was in the past means missing out on the future.

The book that is a movie script

Morgan wrote a movie and it was beautiful. this needs to get picked up by somebody for a movie because it is absolutely perfect! The comedic timing is genius, the family is hysterical, and waffles the dog is my favorite.

Surprised at how much I enjoyed this!

I teach reading to 7th graders. So I read this book because I knew they-the girls in particular- would enjoy it. What surprised me was how much I enjoyed this! It was more than just your typical wedding story that practically everything goes wrong. The characters were fleshed out, and I felt like I “knew” them. I can’t wait to share this book with my 7th graders in August!

LOVE

A heart warming romantic comedy with an incredible narration. One of the best from Audible.

Loved the narrator

The story was funny and the narrator did a great job telling it. Only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 is because the ending felt rushed

Usually I don't listen to audio books...

The Narrator did a FANTASTIC job of putting emotion into the reading. The dialogue was performed well and she added the right tones and vocal alterations for the perfect theatrical effect. Usually I don't listen to audio books, but I am such a fan of Matson that I had to get ahold of this book in any form I could, and I was not disappointed.

Beautiful family driven story. Beautiful.

The story gave off an impression that this was going to be a romance story with few family aspects. Boy was I wrong it was an amazing family story. I felt even though it was in only one narrative I felt every charactera emotions becase Charlie was such an emotionally carried character. It ia definitely movie written, the book is written as if we they already have gotten a movie deal but eventually I got over it and could finally get into the story. A 4.5/5 read.

Must Read Contemporary

I loved this audiobook. It was funny and heartwarming. Think of it like a comedy and family movie, but so much better than that. I really connected to the Grant family.

Worth the Credit

This book was filled with so much humor and emotions. The narrator does such a wonderful job, which becoming harder and harder to find lately. Everything that comes out of JJ's mouth is HYSTERICAL! One of my lol moments was at the dinner rehearsal when he has to take the call..lmao.

Charlie loves her family and is so excited for everyone to come back to their house to celebrate her sisters wedding. The story starts out when the wedding plans don't go as smoothly as they should. Charlie steps up trying to balance her family, some romance and a dog name waffle.

A light read

A light, fun read about family and growing up. It is an easy-to-follow audiobook. I really liked the main character Charlie, but I felt her family relied on her too much given that she is the youngest and still in high school.

A free audiobook was provided by Audible. All opinions are my own.
