About this listen

When the sunniest woman in Creekville buys the house next to the grumpiest man on the street, sparks fly . . . and not just because she keeps blowing his fuses . . .

Twenty-six-year-old Paige Redmond, single mom and go-getter, can't wait to give her daughter, Evie, the Christmas of her dreams. Nothing can get in Paige's way, not even her newly purchased fixer-upper cottage needing way more fixing than she planned.

Paige tackles the holiday with Clark Griswold spirit, amusing the entire town—except for her humbug next door neighbor, the grumpy but deliciously handsome Professor Henry Hill. With the help of colorful friends and found family—plus a feral cat and a pancake snowman—Paige and Evie wage a campaign to cure the cranky professor of his Christmas blues.

When Paige's feelings for Henry wind up as tangled as her Christmas lights, there's suddenly more than Christmas spirit on the line. Will Henry pull the plug on their first solo Christmas? Or can Paige and Evie convince the town's biggest scrooge to open his grinchy heart to the holiday . . . and to them?

I really liked the male narrator and how he did his female voice. I feel like it was great!

Cozy Christmas Goodness!

“Woah. Henry Hill is YOKED. He’s also not wearing his glasses, and while I experience no Clark Kent/Superman confusion, this is definitely a different look. I do not want to live with the knowledge that under his stuffy V-necks and khakis, my nerdy neighbor is a snack.”

I absolutely loved this book! It was slow burn, grumpy/sunshine perfection!

I really love Melanie Jacobson’s writing. She writes really lovable characters with a lot of depth. She has a great way of writing tender moments that make you tear up and clever lines that make you laugh.

Henry was a grumpy professor with the driest humor and I absolutely loved him. It was so fun to see the little neighbor girl, Evie, break through his defenses and grow his Grinch heart.

I loved all the “domestic” moments they spent in each other’s homes. It felt natural and relatable because they are next door neighbors.

I loved revisiting characters from last year’s Christmas novel and others from the Creekville Kisses series. This book is great as a stand-alone but if you read “Kiss the Girl” first, you can get an introduction to Paige and Evie.

Romance: Kisses

Great!

I will start by saying I have never read a Melanie Jacobson book I didn’t like. This was no exception. I was interested in how the 2 main characters would go from hate to love and it was delightful ride! The progression was very good, not forced or all of a sudden. Well done, good feels! Worth it!!!
