About this listen

Going home to her twin brother’s house in Charleston with her tail between her legs is the last thing Dani wants to do. But when she walks out on her fashion house dream job, she doesn’t exactly have a choice. Living in New York City is anything but free.

But going back to Charleston...Alex is in Charleston. And facing down her ex? Her ex who just happens to be stepson to her former boss? Even her love for Southern humidity and shrimp and grits can’t make that confrontation worth it. There’s just so much that could go wrong. Even scarier? Dani still hasn’t forgotten that when they were together, everything felt so right.

Despite their reservations, Alex and Dani find plenty of ways to spend time together. (A wedding dress heist? Why not?) As they unravel the real reasons why Alex left New York - and Dani - will they be able to rediscover the happily ever after they always hoped for?

Love Redesigned is a stand-alone, full-length, clean romance with a strong supporting cast and a happily ever after you won’t expect.

A well-thought out story

First of all, I really enjoyed there were both a male and female narrator to switch off between Dani's and Alex's chapters.

I can tell a lot of thought went into the storyline and I enjoyed subtly learning things about sewing, fabric, clothing design, and the design industry.

While the story didn't end the way I expected, I did appreciate the lesson of focusing on what truly matters.

Overall, a good rom-com general fiction story.

Cute contemporary romance!

This is such a cute contemporary romance. Jenny Proctor has written another fabulous, engaging story. I highly recommend this well-written, second chance story. I listened to all 9 hours in one day. I really enjoyed that Dani and Alex’s perspectives were done by different narrators. It’s so much more enjoyable than when a narrator is trying to do too many voices. I loved this story, and I’m excited for book two!

Cute Clean Rom Com, didn’t care for the narrators

This was the first time I have listened to a rom com audiobook and I liked it but I didn’t love it. I think I personally prefer to read rom coms so I can decide for myself what the characters sound like.

I enjoyed that they have a female reading for Dani and a male reading for Alex.
Their southern accents are really cute. You can hear the southern drawl and still understand clearly what they’re saying.
I think I would’ve liked it better if the voice actors read for their own character throughout the whole book instead of each actor voicing all the characters and switching off chapters. But that’s just my preference.

The story was cute. I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if I hadn’t listened to it and had just read it. The romantic lines felt cheesy when read by a narrator. But I liked the fashion designer twist, I haven’t read a book with that plot line before and thought it was fun.

The family drama was interesting especially since the main characters come from wealthy families. Because their families are wealthy the drama didn’t feel very relatable. I thought it was commendable that Dani wanted to earn her keep and work hard to become a designer based on her merit and not her connections, but if she hadn’t let her pride get in the way she wouldn’t have been under Sasha’s thumb in the first place.

I had a hard time connecting with the characters and couldn’t relate to their challenges. Which could partially be because I listened to it instead of reading it. I always get more out of a book when I read it than when I listen to it.

Overall I thought it was a cute clean rom com, I liked the southern charm and the fashionista aspect, but had a hard time connecting with the characters and didn’t care for the family drama.

Cute love story

At the beginning of the story I was getting some Devil Wears Prada vibes, but you quickly see that this is a pretty different story and most definitely a romance. This was my first book from this author and it won’t be my last. I’m looking forward to more in the series as I really enjoyed the supporting characters and can’t wait to see them again. (As an aside, I’ve seen some reader reviews slamming this book because of the existence of gay supporting characters....I’m sad that this is something some people would criticize a book for. They happen to be lovely characters and I wish they were my friends. I don’t think this should be necessary, but here’s your warning if this is a problem for you. The author doesn’t deserve negative reviews because of this, so if you have a problem with it, move on to something else. The book deserves to be reviewed on it’s merits, not the existence of gay characters.) It was lovely to see such supportive relationships...even if some went through some growing pains...The main characters were great and I liked following along on their journey. I always enjoy stories that switch back and forth between the perspectives of the hero and heroine. I like getting both.

A very enjoyable and light second chance romance. There’s a little intrigue to the storyline, but it really is ultimately about the love story. The ending and the situation with the “bad guys” felt like it just wrapped up a little too quickly. There was some extra resolution at the end, so it was overall not much of an issue, but it could have had a little more to it. This is a clean story in regards to language and sexual content, other than a few mentions of the female lead’s boss and some minor and very oblique references that the reader can interpret how they choose. Not anything that made me uncomfortable.

In regards to the narration, I liked it overall, but it took me awhile to get used to it. It was more me than anything. I’ve never listen to an audiobook that switched back and forth between two narrators before. It was something different for me. I think it works with the dual first person perspective of the book, so it makes sense. I don’t think I’m very good a hearing a southern accent in my head when I read a book, so I did find the characters accents to be something to adjust to. The one thing that did bother me was when the story was coming from the male lead’s perspective but he was relating dialogue from the female lead. Really did not like the voice the male narrator used. I would have preferred he just used his normal voice. It felt a little jarring.

So if you like sweet and light contemporary romances, this one is recommended! After I got going with it, I lost too much sleep being unable to stop listening.

Loved It!

I read this book and was intrigued when I saw that it was narrated by both a male and female in audiobook version. I have to say that I think I loved it even more than reading it myself! The characters of Alex and Dani really came to life and it was easy to feel their emotions as the narrators took on their roles.
If you're looking for a sweet romance with plenty of drama then this is definitely the book for you. You'll be loathe to turn it off until Alex and Dani get to the end of their adventure!

Delightful! I enjoyed the characters a lot!

Calling all you second chance trope lovers, this book is for you!!! I loved it! The fashion and clothing design aspects of it pulled me in. I loved hearing all about it through Dani's eyes and her job. She has always loved designing clothes and has such a great talent for it. It's no wonder that she works at a premier fashion house. But her dream is far from perfect, unfortunately. She keeps hoping she'll be moved up to a higher position which will allow for her to do more creating. But when her dream comes crashing down around her, she's left trying to pick up the pieces.

And of course in her lowest moment, she heads to live with her twin brother. Which you'd think would be a great idea, but unfortunately they don't have the best relationship. And guess who else is there??? If you said her ex-boyfriend and love of her life, you got it! Poor Dani! But I have to say I absolutely loved seeing more from her brother Isaac's side of the story. He doesn't have his own POV but we see it through Alex's POV (the ex).

Alex and Dani have history and boy oh boy, does the fashion industry play into that history. And I have to say that I really loved watching them reconnect and start to figure out what's going on with her boss and Alex's stepdad. Tangled web my friends. Tangled web.

They have a plan to fix Dani's wedding dress problem (no, not her own dress but one she designed and sewed for a friend) and hopefully fix Alex's family problems as well. A heist! Hee Hee! They're pretty clever when they put their heads together and work together. Not to mention they make some great chemistry.

I had fun listening to this one and loved the narrators' accents. I laughed and giggled and gasped and held my breath waiting for it all to unravel. The story was delightful and brought to life even more through the duel narration. Well done!!!

Content: Clean.

Happy Reading!!!

Fun!

This was such a fun book! Both Dani and Alex made mistakes they had to fix, but when they came together? Watch out! Some truly messed up people and some wonderfully marvelous ones. lol

I listened to the audiobook. The female narrator took a little getting used to, but the male narrator(s) rocked it!

Closed Door Rom Com

This was a really great second chance romance and beginning of a new (to me) series by Jenny Proctor.

Alex and Dani were a really sweet couple and I love how they became friends again before the second chance romance happened.

There were a lot of great supporting characters in this story and I especially loved Issac. Seeing the relationship between him and Dani get better was beautiful.

I didn't necessarily love the ending... and I'm not sure how to say why without a spoiler. It just didn't resolve the conflict in quite the way I was hoping for.

Things to know about content: I would call it squeaky clean with only a couple of minor swear words and mild kissing.

The narration was well done. Sometimes the accents felt like they came and went a little but the actual voices were pleasant to listen to.
