About this listen

Dead bodies...sleuthing teens...what could go wrong?

When high school seniors, Brynn O'Connell, and her best friend, Peyton Patterson, discover a dead body during the Copper Cove Festival, they had no idea their lives would forever change...for the better. Standing next to the victim is the strange new girl in town, Raven Masters. When Brynn identifies the murder weapon as belonging to her Grams, the three girls set out to prove Granny Winnie is no killer! Brynn and Peyton must learn to set aside their prejudices and trust the quirky new girl. After all, she seems to be an old pro at sleuthing. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the girls get to cut their sleuthing teeth in Raven's cool '66 Fastback Mustang. But when things go from bad to worse for Granny Winnie, Brynn decides to call in her Grams' estranged younger sister, Aggie, a former bounty hunter.

Can the girls learn to trust one another, follow their instincts, and get Granny Winnie out of jail? Or will Brynn be destined to spend her last year of high school alone in the small town of Copper Cove?

My step-daughter and I are writing this series together. While my usual cozies have a slight romantic interest and more military presence, they will come later in the series. Maddy wanted to start the girls off as seniors in high school (since she is in high school), and I will continue the series later with them returning from college, romantic interests, and more military presence. Right now, I hope you enjoy listening to the new series Maddy and I have written for you!

Awesome story

The narrator nailed this book. It was like being read a story by Jenna St. James herself. The story grabbed me from the beginning and was was easy to follow and the characters, while quirky, were believable. I can’t wait to read future books and see what happens with the characters. I think YA and cozy fans would enjoy this book.

Seaside and Homicide

This cozy mystery is written by Jenna St. James and Maddy Maddson and narrated by Michelle Marie. (This is confirmed in the audio introduction.) It’s well written and narrated... these ladies all did a great job.

I enjoyed meeting all of the great characters and finding out about their little town. The sleuths are high school students, but that doesn’t stop them from getting to the bottom of things. I’m looking forward to seeing seeing what pops up for them next.

Cute story

This story was a little predictive and some of the voices were a little to slow and dragging but overall a good listen. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great beginning to the Copper Cove Series

Seaside and Homicide is a fun, witty and quick read that will have you guessing and entertained from beginning to end.

Brynn is a senior in high school, just trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life. When her colorful and fun Gram finds herself as the key suspect of murder, Brynn enlist the help of her best friend, Peyton and new comer to town, Raven to get to the bottom of this injustice.

I very much enjoyed Seaside and Homicide. I will be honest in saying I don’t normally pick up a book where the main characters are in the YA/NA part of life, but this trio of young women are something. Portrayed in very true to life ways that make them feel very much real and not like characters on a page. Brynn, while confused and inexperienced, is one smart cookie who has the right people by her side. Winnie is a hoot. I loved her no nonsense attitude and sarcastic ways. You so see where Brynn get it from.

The writing team of Jenna St. James and Maddy Maddson have something special with the Cooper Cove series and Seaside and Homicide is a fantastic start.

Creative mystery

This book is creative and very well written. The characters are quirky and charismatic. The storyline is intricate and has a few twist you won't see coming. I admit I was hooked and could not stop listening I needed to know who the murderer was. The narrators are very distinct with each voice they did and it brought the story alive. I highly recommend this book. I received this book at my request and I am voluntarily leaving this review voluntarily of my own volition.

Great YA mystery...w an adorable cat!

Teenager Bryn has grown up with her grandmother and an adorable cat named Jinx. When her grandmother is accused of murder, Bryn and two friends begin their own investigation. Can a trio of teens solve a really make a difference and solve a murder? I don’t normally listen to YA stories but this one was well written and kept my interest. Great narration as well.
