Publisher's summary

My name is Nora Black, and I'm 51 years young. At least that's what I tell myself, when I'm not having hot flashes; my knees don't hurt; and I can find my reading glasses.

I'm also the proud owner of a salon called Scents & Scentsability in the small resort town of Garden Cove, where I make a cozy living selling handmade bath and beauty products. All in all, my life is pretty good.

Except for one little glitch....

Since my recent hysterectomy, where I died on the operating table, I've been experiencing what some might call paranormal activity. No, I don't see dead people, but quite suddenly I'm triggered by scents that, in their wake, leave behind these vividly intense memories. Sometimes they're unfocused and hazy, but there's no doubt, they are very, very real.

Know what else? They're not my memories. It seems I've lost a uterus and gained a psychic gift.

Sense and Scent Ability

I very much enjoyed this audiobook!
Storyline is a new type, and intriguing.
Only reason for 4 stars on performance, is because when 2 females were conversing, it was difficult to tell who was speaking.

Full stars for #1

I wish I would have read this first.
Though each book can be read individually.
I started with aroma holiday, which made me want to go back and catch up.
Nora 8s the perfect heroine.
I mean it is rarely that we readers get a story with a real life heroine. Meaning, middle-aged, flawed and interesting.
Can't wait to read more about all the chrachters. I have a feeling that the twins may be my favorites.
Also Ezra had some fine qualities.
Pippa and Gilly also may have some interesting sub plots to explore.
I am having a great time learning about Garden Grove.
keep up the good work,Renee.

Murder stinks

Sense and Scent Ability is a delightful start to a new cozy mystery series. Nora Black died on the operating table for exactly twenty-seven seconds and since she came back she has the ability to sense other people’s memories. She uses this new ability to help the hunky (younger) detective solve the case of who killed her bff’s abusive ex-boyfriend.
Nora is a total hoot and her friends encourage her in the best ways. This was a wonderful way to meet Nora and her crazy cast of friends. I look forward to more adventures with the lot.
I’d read the print copy and have now listened to the audio version and enjoyed it just as much.

5/5 I want more!

The characters and their close friendships bring this to to the top of my list. People can overcome and become more --if they want to. I gave 5/5 and want the next book soon.-------------Margaret Strom, narrator, applause.

At times...no sense

Nora Black, and I'm 51 years young. At least that's what I tell myself, when I'm not having hot flashes; my knees don't hurt; and I can find my reading glasses.

I enjoyed this story and a different spin on paranormal abilities - I enjoyed the perspective of the heroine a 51 yr old single woman with a hot detective looking at her.

What rubbed me the wrong way about this story is the Police detective Ezra. If Ezra was as great as the author was trying to make him out to be why didn't the crime scene provide results on the found money when they found the body? Why didn't the author have Ezra investigate the info / rumours on gambling, kick backs or strong arming with any of the businesses.

The MANY details in which the detective missed, or failed to investigate made it hard for me to really enjoy this story.

Sense and Scent Ability

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As a matter of fact I went out and bought the rest of the series. I found the perspective of an older woman to be refreshing so many cozy Mysteries are about young people and their life having falling apart and now they're rebuilding. this was about an established woman who had been ill recovered and now had a strange new ability. I got a big kick out of her creaky knees decreasing vision and her secretly dying her hair I loved it. I felt the characters 4 people that could really lives next door.

great narrator, great writing

This is a good book, well written, nicely crafted characters and good storyline. Personally I prefer less drama and emotional outbreaks and a bit less seriousness. Still I may get the next book in the series too.
