About this listen

From the best-selling, Edgar Award-winning author James Patterson comes a classic thriller.

Cool and glamorous, they could be a successful couple on a holiday. But Damian and Carrie Rose are psychopathic murderers for hire. Their new venue is a picture-perfect vacation island. Their adversary will be Peter Macdonald, the dashing young American who forsakes a life of leisure for a confrontation with cold-blooded terror. And risks everything only to discover that he alone suspects the hideous truth about the Season of the Machete.

definitely not for sensitive ears, written with 70s/80s sensibilities in mind. full of twists and gore.

I used to enjoy Patterson when he first started writing the Alex Cross stories, but I should have stopped listening years ago. This book, like most of hos recent titles, is poorly plotted, lacking detail, devoid of character development and simply ridiculous. On top of that, the narrator is atrocious. I am pretty tolerant when it comes to audiobooks, but this was the worst book I purchased this year- actually in several years. I tried to give Patterson one last chance, but I wish he'd taken a machete to his manuscript. It would have been a more interesting story.
