Publisher's summary
The first rule of dating as a single mother should be: Don’t date your son’s teacher.
The second rule should be: Don’t let your past hold you back from your future.
But when the gorgeous, much-too-young-for-me single dad moved to town, I found it impossible to avoid his advances. Especially when my sister and her husband gave him an open invitation to our weekly family dinners.
I knew better than to let anything happen between us. I didn’t want to get close to him and his daughter, only for him to possibly walk away. Just like my kids’ father had done to them.
Letting Dominic into our lives was never the plan. I needed to be strong, to resist the temptation and keep everyone’s hearts intact.
The only problem was that I wasn’t strong enough to fight our chemistry when the pull was so powerful.
Everyone has weaknesses.
And Dominic? Well, he just happened to be mine.
*This book can be enjoyed as a standalone, but if you want all of the juicy town gossip, be sure to listen to Just One Time (Book 1) first. This series is made up of interconnected standalones that feature characters from the other books, but each book has a happily ever after and features a different character.

Being a single mom was hard, but celebrating our first Christmas without my girl’s father, in the Christmas-obsessed town of Sugarplum Falls, was even harder. I knew they needed me to be there with them, but I was sinking quickly, barely keeping my head above water. That was, until a handsome man came into the salon I worked at, needing my help.

I wasn't dreaming of a white Christmas, nor were my troubles out of sight. I had a demanding job and pressing deadlines, which meant it was far from being a silent night. When I asked my grandma if I could stay in her cabin over the holiday, she was more than thrilled to have me back home. But she failed to mention the sexy handyman remodeling the house, or that he might not make it down the mountain with the snowstorm moving in.

Miles Sexton was the kind of guy I avoided at all costs. The man’s confidence and good looks screamed heartbreaker, and I’d had enough of that for a lifetime. But it wasn’t easy to avoid someone when they parked their food truck right outside the upscale restaurant you worked at as the executive chef. Or when they constantly came in, asking to borrow ingredients because they failed to be prepared.

It was supposed to be an escape from the stress back home. A Christmas spent by myself, snowed in somewhere in the middle of nowhere. What I got instead was an unexpected roommate and a chance at my dream job. It should have been easy to keep my distance and focus on the task at hand, but when it came to Luke, nothing was easy. His charm and sexy smile had me wanting to unwrap him as my gift under the tree. Which is why I couldn’t say no when he asked for my help with his sister’s last-minute wedding. The catch- I had to pretend to be his girlfriend AND a caterer.

After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

Small town reverse age gap with a ton of laughs
This is book two in Samantha's Beaumont Creek series. Jane is a pediatrician in town and we get to meet Dominic when he brings his one year old daughter Olivia in for a check-up. Jane says she isnt interested because she is 10 years older and Dominic is her sons teacher. She was fooling herself because there was an instant connection and Jane tried hard to ignore him. Dominic wouldn’t take no for an answer! All it takes is a skirt and a mirror to make her temporarily forget all the reasons she thinks it won't work! Samantha throws in so much spice, a ton of surprises, and so many laughs you can't help but love this book!

Small Town Love 😍
Dominic is new to town, taking up a long-term substitute teacher gig for a teacher put on maternity leave. He also has an adorable toddler. And he's single. What's Jane, a single pediatrician with two kids of her own to do when they keep crossing paths? Not to mention he's now her son's teacher, she's his daughter's doctor, and he is ten years younger than her.
This is my first reverse age gap and I loved it even more than I thought I would! There were also a few surprises in this book that I wasn't expecting! Jane is the one who is hesitant to commit to a relationship with Dominic, not the other way around as we often see. Even better, we get to see a guy step up and treat kids, who aren't his, as they are his own *swoon* I would easily pick this book up again and read it, which I don't usually do.
I have missed listening to Jaime Carnucci! I'm glad to see her back working with Samantha and love seeing her grow as a narrator. I hope to hear more from her soon!
THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You like your book characters a little older (as in not in their 20s), a guy who isn't afraid to go after what he wants, and small town feels.

Every school needs a Dominic!!
Second Chances is book #2 in the Beaumont Creek series. Jane is a divorced mom of 2 school age kids. Her ex-husband is even more useless than when they were together. She meets hot DILF Dominic and his baby daughter at her medical practice, then realizes he is her son's teacher. He should be off limits, but the chemistry is too 🔥 for them to ignore. I don't know how many times I found myself laughing out loud with the group text string. Absolutely hilarious! This steamy gem gives us reverse age gap, single mom/single dad, forbidden-ish with just the right push and pull, making this another win from Ms. Baca!
The narration was great. Jaine Carnucci was fantastic voicing all the characters (kids to adults) like the pro she is. 5/5 stars.

Hot Teacher + pediatrician = swoony romance
Dominic is a hot Teacher who moved to town with his baby daughter, Olivia. Dominic finds that he has a crush on his daughter's pediatrician, Jane. Jane falls in love with Olivia from the moment they meet, and she realizes Olivia's dad is pretty cute too.
This book take a fresh twist on romance with a teacher and a pediatrician. Whike both are single parents with damage, I liked was that Dominic didn't let his past hold him back, and he went after what he wanted. He shows Jane how a real man should treat her and the kids. Jane, on the other hand, is cautious and the ti's understandable with her past.
things to know: reverse age gap romance, he falls first, public smexy time, accidental pregnancy

Beaumont Creek Book 2!!!
Beaumont Creek book 2 in the much loved series by Samantha Baca, Second Chances!
Tropes:
• Age gap
• Single parent
• Small town
Another amazing book by Samantha Baca!
Jane is a single mom raising her two kids while being a pedestrian, content in her life doing just that. Well, she was until she met one of her son’s teacher’s. Dominic moved here with his one-year-old and is a school teacher.
Not often do we read about an older woman attracted to a younger man but this one is incredible!
