About this listen

Atlanta's billionaire heiress Annie Hartford has been under her father's thumb her entire life. At 29, he is now forcing her to marry a man she doesn't love in front of 600 guests. With only moments to spare, she hijacks the family limo, which breaks down in small town Pinckney, Georgia. Annie, who has never wanted for anything, suddenly finds herself homeless, penniless, and with only the clothes on her back: a designer wedding gown and diamond tiara.

There she meets small town lawyer and restaurant owner Sam Ballard. Unlucky in love, the last thing Sam needs is a red-hot waitress who seems hell-bent on breaking every dish in his Dixieland Café. Still, he can't very well fire her; she has already won the hearts of everyone in town.

After a lifetime of riches, can Annie find happiness in a garage apartment, second-hand clothes, and making her way around town on a borrowed bicycle? And how can Sam be certain that Annie won't run home to daddy when her new life presents one obstacle after another?

Enjoyable

Any additional comments?

Runaway bride runs away from man she doesn't want to marry, winds up in small town with a sort of jack of all trades which makes her reconsider the idea of marriage. I really liked this book and thought it was really funny during certain parts. I got this book in exchange for a review

Small Town Romance

What made the experience of listening to See Bride Run! the most enjoyable?

This was a sweet romance without any angst. A very easy read and I love small town romances. I really enjoyed the last two chapters and how the story came together. I wasn't expecting one of the secrets that was disclosed.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked all of the supporting characters and how practically the entire town had some part in making Annie's new experience enjoyable. As a supporting character, my favorite was Lillian and her little secret. I also loved Annie and how she finally took charge of her life. She stood up to her father and learned that life can be simple without all of the extravagant material objects that she was used to.

What about Elizabeth Klett’s performance did you like?

This is the first book that I have listened to from this narrator. I liked her voice and think that she really added to the story.

Any additional comments?

I would like to thank Ms. Hughes for reaching out and offering this audio to me.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. There was a twist and a slight mystery towards the end. I felt that the end of the book was rushed and could have included more detail on both Sam and Annie’s life. The twist that occurred could have also been a tad bit longer and could have given the reader more detail on how Annie’s relationship changed with Lillian and with Sam. I am from Atlanta, GA and could definitely see how a small town would embrace Annie as one of their own.

See Bride Run!

"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."

A quick romance following an escape from an almost marriage set up by billionaire father. Annie wants to manage her own life, but Daddy dearest cuts off all her funds to make her marry after 3 months of dating. Annie runs, stealing a limo, wearing her wedding finery. She ends up in small town with a broken down car, no money and suddenly the town adopts her. Sam, lawyer, diner owner, used car salesman enters picture. From there pretty typical and predictable plot, with a couple laugh out loud moments. Not bad for a quick listen.

The narration was well done, The characters were excellently portrayed.

Sweet light romance with a bit of mystery ...

Would you listen to See Bride Run! again? Why?

Yes, I would. I liked the story line and the fact that Annie was standing up for herself. She makes a good female lead.

What about Elizabeth Klett’s performance did you like?

Ms. Klett was able to give each character their own voice. She gave Annie a backbone, Sam his charm and Lillian her caring spirit. I've enjoyed Ms. Klett's work in the past and I look forward to listening to more of her books.

If you could rename See Bride Run!, what would you call it?

I would call it "Living Her Own Life" (subtitle How Annie stood on her own two feet!)

Any additional comments?

While this may start out like many a chic-lit book, Annie shows the spunk she needs to lead her own life and get away from her father. I recommend this book to my friends who enjoy a sweet but thoughtful romance. Annie and Sam are quite the couple!

A hard to put down book

Would you consider the audio edition of See Bride Run! to be better than the print version?

Yes because of what the narrator brought to the story with the southern accent.

What did you like best about this story?

Everything, but the funniest moment is when Annie popped Sam in the eye.

What does Elizabeth Klett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings your imagination alive.

If you could rename See Bride Run!, what would you call it?

A Southern novel: Coming into her own.

Feel-Good rom-com with quirks and twists

What did you love best about See Bride Run!?

While seemingly a typical romantic comedy, this fun and feel-good book has quirkiness and twists that make it stand out from the bunch. I enjoyed reading about the eclectic group of townspeople and their crazy lives. I've read and watched many books/movies in this genre, so considering the fact that this book kept my interest and even had a few surprises, that says a lot! My main criticism would be that the beginning of the story felt very rushed and we didn't quite get enough time to get to know the characters. I kept having to remind myself that Annie used to be rich for example. The author would _tell_ us about the characters, but never really _showed_ us. Why did Annie and Sam hate each other so much from the beginning is another example. It felt like the author knew these characters so well that she kind of forgot that we didn't. We're just supposed to accept everything without evidence, but it felt like I was missing part of the story. I wish I was better at explaining these thoughts. I definitely understand if you don't understand, haha. In the end I am glad I read the book and might look for others by the author in the future.

Any additional comments?

Note to readers:

1. This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast.

2. I strive to fully use all 5 stars. A 3 star rating still means I liked the book!

3. Just like I don't expect my skittles to taste like fine dark chocolate, I don't expect (or even want) my fun paranormal romance books to be in the same category as classic literature. Therefore I try to avoid a lot of comparisons.

This was a wonderful and fun book

I loved the story of the socialite going running before the wedding & the little mystery in the new place & the show of how friendly the southern people really are. I hope everyone enjoys the narrator, she does a wonderful job.
