Unlikable Characters but still worth rooting for

This is just an okay book. The three sisters are too stereotypical and during most of the story I’m thinking “Damn they are some messed up people” and not in a good way. You have the mean-girl who is successful but a total bitch. You have the bookworm who doesn’t know she’s pretty. You have the pretty quiet girl who is a total door mat. Most of the story is from the middle sister’s point of view and even though I didn’t find the girls entirely likable I did find myself rooting for them.

The mystery was intriguing but totally predictable. There is also a “Murphy’s Law” aspect to this story that as I listener I found myself getting frustrated at how stupid people acted or wondering really if that much bad stuff can happen in a few days. I did love the supporting characters of Mitch, Lando, Pete and Everett. The sisters’ parents are just as messed up as they are.

The book is billed a Humorous Romantic Mystery. Mystery and romance were there but as with some of the other Stephanie Bond books I’ve listened to her humor can seem like “I think that was supposed to be funny”.

I liked the narrator but my only problem is this is the fourth Stephanie Bond book for this narrator I’ve listened to and for the most part the characters were great but in this one some of the voices reminded me so much of the characters in other books I found it a little confusing.

Humorous? Not really. But, surprisingly, I enjoyed it.

Due to the other reviews, I almost didn’t listen to this book. There might be some humor, but I wouldn’t classify it as such. I actually enjoyed this book. I definitely would not be friends with a few of the characters. Since I subscribe to audible escape, I decided to give this one a try.

ongoing issues

several times i had to make myself keep listening. i wanted to fast forward at times. it for all purpose was good but not easy at parts. come one in the south we have family fued but hippie family matter, family business issues, sister love triangle or square, plus family cheating and murder, is alot to add to one story. At least she never had to say garage.

Poor voice for someone who was supposed to be seductive of Regina
s love interest. bad guy voice could have been made not so seductive

Great book

Lifetime, Hallmark or Netflix should really look into making these into movies or series of some sort.

Clever plot twists and surprise moments

The book is a refreshing and humorous change from my normal suspense novel reads. Proof that murder and family distinction doesn’t need to be dark and dramatic with every page. I think I love it!

Not my find of book

Did not care for this book at all. Would not recommend to anyone. Reader was OK. Just not my kind of story line.

Midwestern narrator for southern bell heroines

The story would have been interesting, but it was slow. I couldn't relate to the relationship of the sisters, they were a little too caddy and backstabbing to be believable as sisters. and the narrator, while doing a decent job of switching back and forth between the different characters, this book is set in the south and all I could hear was the narrator's Midwestern dialect. It honestly did detract from my enjoyment of the book.
