About this listen

A New York Times bestseller!

From the author of Today Tonight Tomorrow comes a magical, “emotionally savvy[,] and genuinely romantic” (Publishers Weekly, starred review) story in the vein of Groundhog Day about a girl forced to relive her disastrous first day of college—only to discover that her nemesis is stuck in the time loop with her.

Barrett Bloom is hoping college will be a fresh start after a messy high school experience. But when school begins on September 21st, everything goes wrong. She’s humiliated by the know-it-all in her physics class, she botches her interview for the college paper, and at a party that night, she accidentally sets a frat on fire. She panics and flees, and when she realizes her roommate locked her out of their dorm, she falls asleep in the common room.

The next morning, Barrett’s perplexed to find herself back in her dorm room bed, no longer smelling of ashes and crushed dreams. It’s September 21st. Again. And after a confrontation with Miles, the guy from Physics 101, she learns she’s not alone—he’s been trapped for months.

When her attempts to fix her timeline fail, she agrees to work with Miles to find a way out. Soon they’re exploring the mysterious underbelly of the university and going on wild, romantic adventures. As they start falling for each other, they face the universe’s biggest unanswered question yet: what happens to their relationship if they finally make it to tomorrow?

Critic reviews

"Emily Lawrence portrays Barrett Bloom, who has just arrived at college for her freshman year. Listeners immediately observe that Barrett uses sarcasm to disguise hurt as wit. When she discovers that she’s rooming with a high school nemesis, it becomes clear that her hoped for reinvention at college isn’t possible. It’s as if she’s locked in a time loop. In fact—she is! Tension ratchets up when Barrett learns she has a time-traveling companion named Miles Kasher-Okamoto. Lawrence dramatizes their unfriendly meeting and the clash between Miles’s ultra-serious nerdiness and Barrett’s more playful side. Gradually, believably, Lawrence recounts the pair’s growing mutual trust and, finally, a slow-burning attraction that, ironically, may be threatened by being released from their time prison. Rom-com and sci-fi tropes find new definition and fun."AudioFile Magazine

Exactly What I Was Looking For

This book was so satisfying. I think I might have even liked it more than Today Tonight Tomorrow. Barrett and Miles are such compelling characters. The narrator did a fantastic job capturing everyone’s voices (especially Barrett’s of course). Only complaint is some bits that seemed to repeat or have lines missing (end of Ch 33 I think).

LITerally perfect

I mean honestly. Groundhog Day books can be hit or miss and this was a big hit. The characters were beautifully written and story (magic vs science) was so so good. I cannot say enough good things about this. Narrator was excellent too. RLL can do no wrong.

Excellent

The author did a great job of letting us see what a do over day would look like with the phone, tragedy, and romance of a couple trying to escape it. The narrator smashed it.

really great!

I really enjoyed this audiobook! the story was wonderful. I think I prefer "today, tonight, tomorrow" slightly more but this one was also wonderful!

the narrator was slightly over the top at times which detracted a little (I preferred the narrator for the other story) but she was decent overall. I don't want to give away elements of the story, but I really enjoyed some of the unexpected twists!

fully worth the listen/purchase! I always judge how good a book/audiobook is by my desire to re-listen or re-read, and this will definitely be one I revisit!

A bit of sci-fi with my romcom

The very idea of this story really captured my attention. A time loop is always a fun story. So I really wanted to see how exactly they would work it. And I was pretty happy with the end result.

Trama to work through, mistakes, misunderstandings, and fear of the unknown.

Welcome to your first day of college.

Not bad

I really did like the way the narrator heightened emotions when in chaotic moments but I also found that sometimes the ways she talked rubbed me the wrong way (that could very well be the character herself though, who I wasn’t the biggest fan of) but I pushed through the book because I liked the fluffy romance and the sci-fi aspect of time loops.

Sweet Show Burn with a side of Sci-Fi

Loved this story. The characters were relatable and I love how polar opposite they are. The story brought them together naturally. My favorite moment included mozzarella sticks and a tattoo, and the happy ending of course.

Amazing!

I loved the story from start to finish, it doesn’t just give backstory on the main character- it gives the reader insight on all of the prominent characters. That insight helped develop the story in a way that couldn’t have been done if the focus was only on Barrett. It was a solid read, 10/10!!
