About this listen

Fifty people go to sleep in their own beds and wake up in a compound in the middle of the jungle. Men and women from all walks of life with only one thing in common - none of them know where they are or how they got there. Alex is a paratrooper. Yael is a mathematician. Max is a law professor. They can't leave - a lethal barrier surrounds the facility, but no one knows if it's there to keep them in, or to keep something out.

The compound is comfortable and provides for all of their needs. There's a warehouse with DNA coded locks. Only Barbara, the doctor, can open a fully stocked operating room, and only Alex can get into an arms room with enough weapons to outfit an infantry platoon. There is enough food and other supplies to last for decades, but nothing to tell them who did this to them or why.

For Alex, it's an intriguing mystery - anything is better than digging foxholes in the desert - but he and the others don't realize that time is running out. On the other side of the barrier lies a horror beyond imagination, and the barrier is about to come down.

Seed is everythin Wayward pines should have been.

Where does Seed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Seed so far is my most enjoyable experience with an audiobook I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. If only M. Night Shyamalan chose to produce Seed rather than Wayward pines this could easily be the best show on TV, or an more Epic full length. feature

Who was your favorite character and why?

Alex obviously , is the ego of the book, it's clear he the avatar Michael Edelson personally used when creating he envisioned his creation in his minds eye.

What does Rob Zaleski bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Although Rob's performance does lack excitement, his voice sounds exactly what I imagined Alex's voice to sound like when I first read Seed on paperback. I think it added a prefect touch and allowed me to be even more engrossed in Michaels Edleson's eerie world.

Great story, great reader!!

Dystopian novel with some interesting twists. If you're into that genre (which I can usually take or leave depending on the story), you owe it to yourself to check out this book.

It's too bad that Rob Zaleski was done more work as a reader. Great voice!

Good Story!

I jumped out of my usual reading books to try this and I was not disappointed. Interesting story with many twists and turns to keep it interesting. I liked the characters and there was enough moral ambiguities to keep you guessing. Good narration by Rob Zaleski. I’m happy I spent the credit.

Interesting but quirky

Interesting story concept that makes for decent mystery at first. There are times though that characters seem to act against their type and the author's knowledge of military terminology and operations seems hit or miss. Might've done better with at least a pair of narrators though, as it was always a bit jarring when female characters were supposed to be speaking.

Definitely written by a man

Definitely written be a man. Who really needed a women's input on some issues. An example a rough and tumble sexual romp with the woman leading the way , being a virgin with no hesitation, moments of pain/discomfort etc. and some staining is not a virgin

Another wannabe soldier author

I kept waiting and listening, some parts were pretty good and it kept my attention, until the male main character fell in love with the young beautiful female, after knowing her for about a week. Not to mention every time I turned around, Alex, was crying. "He dampened the shirt of the girl's shoulder he was crying on", give me a break, is he a soldier or a princess? I kept waiting for him to put his dress back on so we can get on with the story but it never happened. I quit listening to it and deleted it do not waste your time.

Interesting story

While it was interesting it lacks something I think it is more fitted for young adults it’s just really a strange story I listened to it and I’m sorry I used a credit but it was interesting for a while

Interesting but issues

First of all the narrator was so unbelievably bad. Flat unemotive voice. And I know it's PA but huge holes in the story. So these best and brightest can't figure out if a tsunami has rolled through? Ugh. And the romantic angle was sophomoric at best. I stuck with it to see how it ended. Will never listen to that narrator again. Might try another book by the author though.

Original concept

This story has all the makings of a great suspense novel. There's the hero, of course, who you just know will save the day, right? Or does he? I guess that would depend on what you consider saving the day. Then there's the macho guy you would expect who needs to be knocked down to size, the love interest to whom the hero must prove himself, the bad guys who think they're doing the right thing, and the good guys for whom you want to cheer. And as in any post-apocalyptic story, there is the sadomasochist who leads by torture and instills fear in all the rest of the people who are in shock by their confinement in unknown territory. Pay close attention in the opening scene because it will tie into the story near the end. I went back and listened to chapter one again. **Thank you, Michael for the free review copy. As always, I look forward to your novels.
