About this listen

How well do you really know your neighbors?

Ruby Windsor is putting the pieces of her life back together after a horrible decision in her teenage years results in a lengthy prison sentence. Newly freed and without any family to support her, Ruby does her best to hold down a job and keep her head above water. Just when it seems that hope for a normal life is dwindling, she is contacted by her estranged grandmother, Rosie.

Rosie lives on Magnolia Court, a cul-de-sac in the most exclusive gated community in Door County, Wisconsin. She's in an assisted living facility after an incident at home and needs someone to watch over her house and handle her affairs while she's gone. Estranged or not, Ruby is the only family she has left.

Shortly after arriving at her grandmother's beautiful home, she realizes that the wealthy have just as many secrets as everyone else—they just bury them a little deeper. How long will it take for Ruby to discover what's being hidden by the residents of Magnolia Court, and will she live to tell anyone what she's found?

This irresistible thriller from the author of Delta County will have you questioning everything.

I feel this was the best book by J. L. Hyde that I have listened to so far. Great story and loved that it was set in Wisconsin.

The best

I love J.L. Hyde’s books and have been dying to listen to this one. My adhd can’t pay attention long enough to read the paperbacks and this narrator’s voice is so smooth, it sucks you right in. I have to admit I listened to it in 1 day and am starting it again.

Been waiting (not) patiently for the audiobook

A completely memorable book with enough plot and character development to keep you interested, but very little foreshadowing to anticipate the multiple twists and turns, the vast majority of which occur in the last 5 chapters. The audio performance was excellent, using vastly different accents and voices for each character. Absolutely loved this book and will recommend it to others. Keep writing! I anticipate several spin-off stories about characters in this book. 😀

What a plot twist..pay attention or you will be confused. I wish some things would have been elaborated more but in all a good easy listen.

This one was slow and pretty boring. Felt like the suspense wasn’t until the last 10% of the book. It was definitely not a favorite.

I love JL Hyde, her books are fantastic and this was no exception. The story was great. My issue is that the recording was god awful. You could hear every single breath and swallow and there was a part that had a weird ringing sound.

Great story, terrible production
