Self-Love for Women came to me when I was exhausted from seeking approval and drowning in self-doubt. This audiobook's gentle yet powerful message felt like a warm embrace, one I didn’t realize I desperately needed. The chapter on overcoming negative self-talk was a game-changer; I finally saw how harshly I spoke to myself. Learning to set boundaries (without guilt!) and practicing mindfulness has slowly but surely quieted my inner critic.

Most importantly, it taught me that self-love isn’t selfish, it’s survival. This book didn’t just inspire me; it gave me the tools to rebuild my relationship with myself.

I picked this up during a rough patch where I was feeling drained and disconnected from myself. What I loved was how simple and real the suggestions were—nothing felt too out there or hard to apply. It reminded me that it’s okay to say no, to rest, and to actually listen to what I need emotionally. The tone was supportive without being too soft, which really worked for me. I’ve already started a few of the exercises and noticed a shift in how I talk to myself. If you need a reset, this is a really solid listen

Exactly what I needed

I found this book to be incredibly inspiring. The author beautifully breaks down the difference between self-love and self-care, while also exploring the deeper emotional blocks that prevent us from truly loving ourselves. Self-love isn’t something we’re always taught or shown and often feels unfamiliar or even uncomfortable. Our past experiences can either help us grow into who we’re meant to be or keep us stuck in unhelpful patterns. Letting go of outdated beliefs about ourselves is such a key part of the healing process. And it is okay to love ourselves unconditionally.
One thing I really valued was the emphasis on being present and not allowing the pain or mistakes of the past to shape our future. That kind of shift takes inner work, and patience. I like how the author offers simple, practical exercises to start making changes right away. Even the tiniest shifts in how we care for ourselves can ripple outward in powerful ways. Great book.

The author does a thorough job of explaining the difference between self-love and self-care, as well as the root causes of the obstacles that prevent us from embracing self-love. It might sound like an indulgent thing to do, but as it unfolds in the book, the opposite is true. Self-love does not seem to come naturally, but it has to be intentional. All of our life experiences can either draw us closer to becoming our best selves or hold us back from reaching our full potential. We all need emotional healing from life's traumas. There is a heavy emphasis on living in the present, but it comes after we've experienced emotional healing from the past. I especially liked the section that discusses self-love leading to self-actualization, as well as the practical exercises we can do to improve our lives, even in tiny moments we might otherwise miss. We might think we are just victims, but happiness is in our hands, and, as Debbie said, it's an "inside job."

The tone felt like a gentle nudge instead of a lecture, which I really appreciated. I started listening during my walks, and I was surprised how just hearing certain reminders helped me rethink how I treat myself. It's not preachy, and the exercises are doable even with a busy schedule.
