I had never really thought about self-talk even though I do it daily. Sometimes I don't even realize I'm doing it. This audiobook made me reflect on times when I am doing it. Primarily when I'm running and struggling and just want to give up. I tell myself "I can do it." The author does a great job of explaining the benefits... as well as the negatives... of self-talk. The power it can hold over us. This is a very comprehensive book that goes in depth on why we talk to ourselves and why sometimes we compare or allow others to judge us. With social media seemingly everywhere, it's so easy to get caught up in comparing ourselves to them but we're only seeing the final result, not the journey it took for them to get to that position. Same goes for ourselves. If you've never heard of self-talk or are just curious about it, this is an excellent resource!
