About this listen

Read by Cynthia Nixon!

Here is the collection of columns that inspired the addictive and multiple award-winning HBO series!

SEX AND THE CITY offers a tantalizing glimpse of the openings, launch parties, and celebrity affairs that keep society amused. Throughout, a cast of characters - the troubled writer, the successful businessman, the famous underwear model, and others - searches for true love...or at least someone to go home with at the end of the night. It's a chronicle of the true-life adventures of the "in" crowd that is often hilarious and sometimes terrifying, but always mesmerizing.

Sex and the City

I have listened to this a few times—after the first listen, it is a nice “in the background” listen. This version has additional chapters not in the original publication, and the narrator (Lauren Fortgang) has a passing vocal resemblance to SJP. I love the show and love this audiobook, but I have heard it is not a great book-read, so I will stick with the audio version!

Superb and funny

I don’t know why I put off reading it for so many years, having been a massive follower of the story, it was like getting an extra first season.

With all the laughs! And the fabulous Amalita.

The narration was superb. Such rhythm! The tone so close to how Candace actually talks…So much fun.

Titty milk! LOL Cracked me up. Thank you Candace + Lauren!

not exactly what I thought

struggled to finish, thought it would be more story like, but realized that it is more of individual moments strung into a workable novel.

Not for me.

After watching the Sex and the City series I found this book disappointing and boring.

Dated and boring

Skip this if you have seen the show. I found this boring and very disjointed.
Admittedly I am a minority but got irritated after the second time the author referred to Asian people as “Oriental” and gave up. C’mon…we are people not furniture Candace!
