The Blackwood Pack saga continues....

This is part of an on-going series and listening to the previous titles is advised. Listeners of the past books will enjoy meeting old friends once more, as the pack does what it does best - care for each other.

Slate, one of the last Dire Wolves, has carved out a life which suits him fine - plenty of traveling to exotic locations and an abundance of one-night stands to handle his needs. While he’s happy for his brother, who has found his fated mate, Slate isn’t interested in finding his - at least not for a long time. That is, until his body betrays him. Seeking his mother’s help - who is an oracle - Slate pays a visit to the Blackwood Pack where he finds the Fates have once again, messed with his life.

Dakota, the chef for the Blackwood Pack, fell in love with cooking as a young child and, ultimately, the kitchen became a place of refuge for him. Suffering with a "curse" through much of his childhood, he relied heavily on his mother’s help to deal with it. After the massacre of his mother and siblings by their greedy uncle, Dakota barely survived, but finally was able to forge a life for himself, content to stay home and take care of the people he loves.

A long-hidden secret, rejection of a mate, acceptance of rare gifts, and a brutal kidnapping are just some of the obstacles Dakota and Slate must battle together to save their relationship. As the pack rallies around them, both must learn to trust the other before they can find the happiness that the Fates have ordained for them....

I love the story line

I always love the storylines in Mary's books. Not only do you get one couples story, but also new characters and the continuation of the pack's story. Nick brings these stories to life with his voice. I have been a fan from the 1st book.

This series just keeps getting better and better!

I am so hooked on this series in audio format. I’ve never read the books with my eyes, but I’ve listened to all of the ones in audio format and I love what Nick J. Russo has done with them. He does a particularly great job with Shadow Voice. There are many different characters and he gives each one a distinct voice. He also does a great job with accents; I really love his Scottish accent.

Because the blurb is so detailed, I really recommend you read it. I will tell you that parts of this story brough me to tears. There are some fairly gruesome scenes but they are necessary to the story. I wonder how in the world Mary Rundle manages to come up with such intricate, yet very different stories in this long running series.

If you enjoy a large cast of characters and a variety of different shifters, I really think you would enjoy reading or listening to The Blackwood Pack series. I’m looking forward to listening to more of the books. If you can’t wait for them all to come out in audio format, books 1-10 are available to read now in Kindle Unlimited.

A copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Another great story of the Blackwood Pack! Nick J Russo brings it all together with such great narration. I am so sad the rest of the series is not on audible, but on to the kindle app for the next

Outstanding addition

Another great addition to this series.
Wonderful job by Nick J Russo, so many voices to perform.
Definitely NOT a standalone, you need the back story...
Only a few Brother's and their stories to go.
patiently waiting!!!
Well worth the credit and your time to listen.

Shadow Voice
Blackwood Pack Series Book #5 (audiobook)
MMy Thoughts Confessions and Review

Things to know before you pick this up:
- This is a saga, not a standalone series.
- This series is told from multiple points of view, even though each book has two MCs it focuses on.
- Each story is rife with action/ danger sequences (these are not fluffy cuddly supes all the time) and there may be triggers for some such as child abuse/ neglect, kidnapping, and trafficking.
- This is also a paranormal fantasy shifter gay romance with mpreg, and lots of steam. So, if that is not your thing, this may not be the series for you.
- The audiobook is uhh-maa-zing!!!

MMy Confession:
I remember reading the epilogue in “Ice Soul,” Book #4, and being so excited that sweet yet broken Dakota was finally going to get his chance in Book #5 “Shadow Voice.” When I was given the ARC I could not wait to get started. I had no idea just how very much I would come to love and treasure Dakota as his story unfolded.

I found myself wanting to melt into the story and become one of the characters so I could bear some of Dakota’s “curse,” giving him a much-needed reprieve. Thankfully, The Fates always know what is best and sent a mate strong and patient enough to show Dakota how brave and strong he was too.

Slate believed he would never have a mate, like his older brother, and he was content in that fact, or complacent, (you can decide for yourself). That is until the day he laid eyes on the gorgeous pack chef and his wolf howled and his soul cried, “Mate!” The claiming of said mate was neither fluffy, pretty, or easy. Dakota was afraid of the curse, and Slate was upset by the rejection by the one who should have been his. If claiming what the heart and soul wanted was easy, life would be boring. Right?

I loved this story so much, I read it twice. That’s right! I read the book two times because of all the action going on. There is so much happening in this epic tale that it is a miracle I have fingernails left. I am not sure how this is all going to pan out in the end, but goddess am I enjoying the ride.

Another excellent Blackwood Pack adventure

These books just keeps getting better. It's Dakota and Slate's turn to find each other and fall in love. However it's not just romance, there's action, humor, family dynamics, new and interesting characters, intriguing new gifts. What an adventure this was , looking forward to Ghost Walker. Nick J Russo I love your narration, your ability to give each character their own voice (I especially enjoyed your Scottish accents) is simply amazing. I highly recommend each in this series.
