About this listen

A portal has been opened. And unthinkable terror lies beyond….

Gray Brooks used to be alone. But that was before he died.… Now the retired Marine has returned to the land of the living, with supernatural abilities he barely understands. And he is determined to use them for good. Gathering a family of friends and allies, he fights to defend the innocent from sinister spirits stalking the dark corners of our world.

But when a portal linking this realm to the shadowy netherworld of the dead is revealed, Gray realizes he may be in over his head. Malevolent forces of unspeakable power lurk on the other side of the rift. And if it escapes into this world, it will wreck untold destruction.

To close the portal, Gray must locate the spirit that crossed through, and send them back across the veil. But with a possessed mayor hindering his investigation, and a shadowy figure manipulating events in the background, solving this supernatural dilemma may be more dangerous than he thought.

And even if he succeeds, can Gray sentence one life to damnation, in order save others?

wish there was more

I loved this book and the third book was very enjoyable. But I found that in the end I wish there was a better ending or another book. I didn't comapre the other books by the authors with this one because they are different AND thy are supposed to be entertaining. These books were entertaing to me and I was not dissapointed. Thom Bowers is an amazing reader! and the authors of this series of books I thought did very good

Another Good One

While a good story, parts were a bit predictable. It still was a good installment, and hope for more from the series.

Not where I expected it to go

I defiantly can't wait for more. This series has gone in a direction I wasn't expecting and that's a good thing. Tired of predictable story plots in horror. As always Thom Bowers delivers a great performance and draws you into each character's own personality. The characters are also continuing to evolve as the plot thickens. Also, the way the relationship between the characters are becoming more and more defined and that in turn forms a stronger bond between the reader and the characters and make you care about what happens to them more. I'm really loving this series.

What a fabulous story!

First of all - I love all books Ron Ripley. This book is such a refreshing change of pace. You'll love Gray Brooks - he is an ex-Marine - who died - and returned across the veil with new skills. These skills lead him to amazing friends - and a whole lot of scary monsters. BUT - this book is a bit different - and includes someone you'll love to hate. Third book of the series - can't wait for Book 4.

3rd of Series

Enjoy the characters of Gray, Juniper, Reeves and Melanie. The mayor seems to be taken over by a demon. He continues teaching/training Melanie with her ghost hunting skills so she can help save people from demons and ghosts out to destroy them like Gray. They found the rift in the veil and need to find the demon possessing the human and send it back to close it, it had surprise ending. There is a lot of actions with twists and turns with creatures and ghosts. Cannot wait for next book but would like to see more of interactions with ghosts

Hunting Death

In the final installment of the Soldier of Death series, Gray is about to find that corruption runs deep in the city - and its more than what he thinks it is.
When a demon inhabits the body of a teenage girl, Gray finds that he feels very protective over her, and he is not sure why. Another young girl, this one determined to help him fight the monsters that he has been dealing with.

Really loved this book. It was great! The twist toward the end really got me (and you have to read the book - I am not giving this one away). One of my favorite series of the year.
