About this listen

For Lorelei Warner, being perfect isn't everything it's cracked up to be. She did what her straitlaced parents wanted: Became a lawyer, married her college boyfriend. But since her husband ran off with another man and her career became a nonstop bore-fest, Lorelei has turned to her best friends and Fool Me Once Investigations to find fulfillment and adventure.

When a routine subpoena delivery turns up a dead body, Lorelei knows that solving the murder is exactly what she needs to boost her confidence - until private investigator Dallas Osborne walks in and takes over the case. Dallas has always rubbed Lorelei the wrong way. It's aggravating enough that he's a pompous ass, but he's also entirely too good-looking.

If she wants to catch the killer, Lorelei will need to loosen up and defy her parents - not to mention the law. And she'll need to partner with Dallas, working closer (much closer) to the sexy investigator than she ever expected.

Join the feisty Fool Me Once ladies for another fun-loving romp from bestselling author Tara Sivec.

Any additional comments?

This is one of my many free read and listen with KU and loved it. It is filled with lots of humor and some hot smexy scenes. Amy McFadden is quickly becoming one of my favorite female narrators. Tara Sivic is a new to me author, but I have see great reviews of her work. This is a book and series that I will be happy to purchase and keep in my library. I love being able to sample new authors and narrators with my KU and have actually purchased many of my free read and listens with KU so that I can keep them in my library. I highly recommend this book and series.

3.5 🌟

Loved the Lorelai Dallas story. Definite enemies to lovers with all sorts of hate lust with some crime drama in between. Lorelai and her parents gave me a total Gilmore girls vibe with Dallas being "Jesse". My favorite of the 3 is still Paige's storyline but overall, solid ending to this trilogy.

I really like this book, and I'm like the first two Amy McFadden I was much better in this book. I did not like the high shrill voice in the first two books. the read itself is short fun and sexy

It was a fun and flirty book.

It was a fun and flirty book. I loved listening to it. It was a great way to end this series. I definitely recommend this book, this author, and this series. And the narrator did a wonderful job on all three books.

Narration is awesome!

For the most part I didn't love this book as much as I did the first and third book, but I do have to say that I still gave a 5 for this audio book because I thought the narration was wonderful!

Sending wrong messages to women

All three books in the series start out with the man being controlling, angry, moody or depressed, disparaging of the woman, and with no control over his libido. The women are attracted to abusive men, and can’t control their libido either. I like a good sex scene as much as anyone, but when Lorelie said, “I’m on the pill. Fuck the condom.“ I was apalled at the message that sent. She had just divorced a man who was gay, and having a gay affair while they were married. I don’t think you should be sending the message that safe sex isn’t important in her situation.

These books buy in to the fiction that a woman can meet a controlling, abusive man and change him into a loving teddy bear with great sex.

Cozy crime rom-com

Partnering with the enemy to solve a murder case. Lorelei is part owner of Fool Me Once with her friends. She’s also a lawyer, but her passion is solving crime. The idea of taking on a murder case and actually solving it thrills and scares her all at the same time.
Lorelei enjoys her independence, but she’s tired of doing what her parents want. She’s tired of being the woman who does as she is told and being underestimated. She doesn’t need a man in her life. She’s happy without a man.
Dallas Osborne owns Osborne Investigations. Every once in a while he partners with Fool Me Once. Dallas is in charge of bringing Richard’s killer to justice. Lorelei was at the first to arrive at the murder scene, so Richard is going to need her help. The problem is they are enemies.

Narrator:
This is an unabridged audiobook narrated by Amy McFadden. Amy specializes in mysteries, thrillers, and urban fantasy. This cozy crime rom-com romance may not be what she specializes in but she performs with professional talent. Her warm conversational tone, comedic timing, and ability to play many different characters makes her a versatile voice actress.
Length: 4hours and 17 minutes. I listened at 2X the speed.

Overall:
This book includes an epilogue.
Trope: enemy to lovers, detective, rom-com, cozy crime romance
It was an easy read. There were a few mild sex scenes.

fun series, but...

All three stories the leads make some potentially deadly mistake, only to be rescued. I would have liked them to be each a little stronger and smarter. I don't think that would have taken away from the lusty parts at all.
