About this listen

Ironically for the time-traveling chief seer of the supernatural world, time has never been on Cassie Palmer's side. There has always seemed to be too much to learn, too much to master, and never enough hours in a day. But the tables have now turned, and the fluctuating timelines of Earth and Faerie are diverging, slowing time in Faerie relative to Earth, and giving humans an advantage for the first time in their war with the fey.

It is one they desperately need, for a literal war of the worlds is about to take place. To win, or even to survive, Cassie and her allies, the powerful vampire senator Mircea Basarab and the formidable war mage John Pritkin, will have to pull off their greatest feat yet. And find a way to become more than the sum of their parts.

Contains mature themes.

Three to tango

Cassie finds out she's still tougher than she or anyone else thinks. A big battle looms ahead and can only be won if she can get everyone to fight together. Cassie finds help was closer than she thought. This book is a great read or listen!

Another great Cassie Palmer novel

Cant' wait for the next book in the Cassie Palmer series. Jordana Marie's performance was quite enjoyable ,and I would love listen to her narration of other novels that interest me.

Entertaining

Entertaining story with plenty of action. A forgotten spell causes an unexpected havoc. The narrator did a great job

Cassie Palmer books always my first to recommend

Shatter the Earth is the latest in the remarkable Cassie Palmer series by Karen Chance. I cannot state how much I genuinely enjoy these books. There is wry humor, non-stop action, and steamy romance. After ten full-length novels, various short stories, and spin-off books (see Dorina Basarab), I am extremely invested in the complex characters that drive these books. Vampires, Mages, Fae, Demons, and even mythological Gods weave into the intricate plot in unique ways. Every story consistently utilizes elements that genuinely surprise me, which I absolutely adore. In a genre that frequently possesses the same old same old, I can count on Cassie Palmer to not follow my expected path. When speaking to others about the joy in reading a great urban fantasy/paranormal romance, the Cassie Palmer books by Karen Chance are the first on my list of recommendations.

Random spoilery thoughts: My main comment here is holy crap, that Lover's Knot spell! That is most definitely an excellent pay off for them. I wait impatiently to see where this goes. And boy, I hope Dory does not hold too much of a grudge for how that last battle started. Thank you Karen Chance, for constantly surprising me.

Why does she always show up to fight naked?

LOMAO!!! I had a great time with this book, it had me tearing up with both emotion and laughter a number of times. I love how much Cassey's competence with both her power and her office was on full display in this book, while still giving us all a good laugh with some of her usual....Casseyisms. Honestly the only things i think there are to complain about are nitpicks that are more based on preference then anything else. Though i will say the narrator was a bit incongruous at times. mostly i just noticed that she spoke slowly and softly at times i thought there should have been more ooomph, like a battle or two. though her performance the rest of the time was awesome.
For anyone who might be interested my personal nitpicks are as follows. I dislike love interests who are more obstacle then support, not nearly as bad here as with other urban fantasies but it still pops up enough that i was hoping Cassey would give Pritkin a verbal or physical (i'm not picky) slapdown at some point. 2. Really not a big fan of Pritkin's bigotry and racism, or of no one ever calling him on that either. 3. Lol Cassey's inner monologue's go on way way WAY too long. Multiple times i yelled out loud "DO IT ALREADY!!!" 4. My head cannon was seriously hoping for Cassey and Dory to be the one's who try to retrieve Elaina. Sigh, my hopes for an epic girlmance are crushed one more.

In the end the book was great and i can't wait for the next one!!!

Shatter The Earth

Very hard to follow. Lots of fill-in words describing things I couldn't imagine. Not happy with this book at all
I am truly sorry to the author who spent countless hours writing this.

Narration was terrible.

I haven't even passed the first chapter, yet. But, you can tell that this narrator never read any of the other books. She acts like hasn't got any background on the characters. I hate Pritkin's "voice." He's a Brit, and she makes him sound like an angry American teen boy. And she drones on like she's reporting the most boring news ever. A bad narrator can really hurt the story.
I'll continue because I've invested years in this series. I hope she'll be replaced for any upcoming books in the future.

Painful narration

Although this installment felt fairly formulaic and really didn’t hold my interest as previous books have done, it was the awful narration that earned it two stars. The narrator’s ponderous droning and inability to enunciate mid-word “l” sounds combined with pronounced hard “g” sounds in every “ing” had me wincing. Throw in her inconsistent accents and bizarrely childlike voice and it was difficult to focus on the story at all. Increasing the speed in the app helped keep me from giving up on the book out of sheer boredom - but just barely.
