About this listen

SHE was meant to be the perfect girl…

‘A darkly disturbing thriller about the daughter-in-law from hell, with an epic twist’ Piers Morgan

SHE’s everything he dreamed of, isn’t SHE?

Ben can’t believe his luck when Bella walks into his life, just when he needs her most. Sexy, impulsive and intelligent, Bella is everything he ever wanted. And Bella wants him. All to herself.

In fact, Bella decides that everything is better when it is just the two of them, making it harder for Ben’s friends and family to stay in touch. And then a sudden tragedy triggers a chain of events which throws Ben headlong into a nightmare.

Secrets, lies, vengeance and betrayal are at the heart of this utterly twisted story about a family that is destroyed when SHE becomes part of it…

‘Brutal and brilliant, this novel will leave you breathless’ Adele Parks

‘As the father of three sons, SHE sent shivers down my spine … a darkly disturbing thriller about the daughter-in-law from hell, with an epic twist that turns the whole thing on its head…’ Piers Morgan

Critic reviews

"Brutal and brilliant, this novel will leave you breathless." (Adele Parks, Sunday Times No.1 best-selling author of Lies Lies Lies and Just My Luck)

"She is a dark and delicious guessing game, designed to be [listened to] with the same relish as it is told. I gobbled up the story of the villainous Bella and her destruction of her husband Ben’s world in less than a day. Addictive stuff." (Louise Candlish, award-winning author of Our House, Crime & Thriller Book of the Year 2019)

"Addictive." (Crime Monthly)

Wrapped up a little too neatly

A couple unexpected twists so that was enjoyable. But it just wrapped up a little too neatly at the end for my taste. What it really needed was a better editor or producer. At least once the narrator referred to Ben as Jo, and referred to Bella as Charlotte. Also a few too many intakes of breath at the beginning of a sentence. And you know that smacking sound that people make when they eat a banana? Heard that Way too many times. All of these things really took me out of the story.

so good!

Way better than I was expecting! A totally different spin on domestic noir drama. The character development was great, the flow of the story worked smooth all the way through. Narrator's were great, always knew what character was talking.

Interesting premise

I liked this book well enough. The only thing I did not like is when she repeated things in the book from different peoples points of view. It was far too repetitive. It could’ve been handled better. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book.
