About this listen

When a dream trip becomes your worst nightmare...

You’ve been excited about this getaway for months–at last, a chance to reconnect with your husband at a secluded island resort. But when he unexpectedly calls you from the beach, you hear the urgency in his voice. Something is very wrong.

The beautiful waitress from the restaurant last night has been found lying dead in the sand. And the police want to question your husband about it.

Sure, you saw him glance at her over dinner a few times, but you know he didn’t have anything to do with the poor girl’s death. So why is he asking you to lie to the police that he was with you all night? And where did he go in those missing hours?

When he returns to your beautiful sea-view suite, things get heated and he accuses you of being jealous, just like he always does. Yes, the waitress was overly flirtatious with your husband, but you didn’t actually wish her any harm. Not really.

Can you trust the man you married...or are you the one who can’t be trusted?

Perfect for fans of Gone Girl, The Hunting Party, and The Girl on the Train.

Very, Very Good

Although certain aspects of this novel are little improbable, if you practice suspension of disbelief and allow yourself to be a carried away, you’ll be in for quite a suspenseful and fun read.
The narration is exceptional, the story is unique, and I truly enjoyed this book from start to finish.
It also surprised me, which is a rare treat.
I liked the characters, was mesmerized by the location and found the interplay between the three couples to be very entertaining.
A definite yes.
Worth a credit and worth your time…

EH

I wanted to love it so much, but it was so confusing. I had to keep repeating parts. I didn't think there was a twist as much of here's what happened.
Would I buy it again? No
Glad I bought it on sale? yes
I didn't use a credit, so that's fine.

Kinda bummed I loved the reviews and premise

ERevenge is not so sweet…

There seens to be no satisfaction in taking the law into one’s own hands, although I quite agree with and applaud Daisy! Great story. Great narration’

Very good who-dun-it

Good setting. Characters of whom none is perfect. Lots of mystery and twists. Ending is a surprise!

no spoilers - I didn't guess it

I pretty much can always guess the ending, but not this one. I enjoyed the story. Finished it in 2 days. Good, easy listen. Was a bit confusing at first figuring out who was who, as there are several couples on vacation. Would recommend.

Very good. Similar to Agatha Christie, lots of unpredictable twists and great setting couldn’t put it down

Just ok - not worth a full credit

This is one of those books that starts off strong with the suspense of a promising whodunit. However, instead of subtle clues left by the author for a clever reader to spot, there is only misdirection. The problem with this book is that the misdirection is mostly a lot of boring sub plots. Spoiler...there is a rape which those triggered may want to avoid. Overall, The Resort was ok in the way that a mediocre beach read is ok - readable enough although formulaic and forgettable. Narration was quite good.

Entertaining, but not fantastic

I love reading novels and getting sucked into the story so much that I sometimes forget I’m reading. This is not the kind of book that does that. While I enjoy the author’s ‘voice’ in the writing, the characters were weak and a bit unrealistic. The plot was okay, a bit thin and the ending was pretty terrible. There was very little ‘hiding the gun’ and the characters kept reacting in extremely weird ways. I was constantly reminded that this was fiction. It was entertaining, but I don’t think I would recommend it to anyone

Soap Opera

A long drawn out story with some of the twists not revealed until the epilogue.

Not my cup of tea

Not able to follow the story. English accent hard to follow. Moved too slow. Did not finish.
