About this listen

Sam Montford left Shelter Valley 10 years ago. He's a direct descendant of the town's founder, the first Samuel Montford, and for him Shelter Valley's expectations had become oppressive. Home had become smothering instead of sheltering.

Sam returns to the town - and to his ex-wife, Cassie Tate - with a seven-year-old child. This is a complete shock to Cassie. When Sam left he hadn't known she was pregnant. Or that she had lost their baby.

Sam's back in Shelter Valley now, back to stay. But he refuses to become the man people expected him to be 10 years ago. Can he be the man Cassie needs now?

What Ministers Are Made Of

This author is not for me, I missed that this was a Harlequin Audio, when I purchased on 50% sale. I love Ms Dawe as a narrator and buy her reads in bulk so to speak when I can. I do use the 1.25x speed to match the author’s intent, and in this case it needed it or a bit better editing.
This is a series, but I wouldn’t buy more from this author as this writer seems more on the spiritual side then on pure core romance. Nothing wrong with that if that’s what you are looking for. The premise was good, and our hero was great, but our female and child character just could not engage me, even if Ms Dawe put her best spin on this read.
If a fan of narrator, see Sweet Talk by Julie Garwood, it was this read I discovered narrator. Also Karen Robard’s Justice. Nora Roberts MacGregor series is Ms Dawe’s top five as with her Tiffany Snow series as these are all core romances.
See Marcia Clark mystery series Ms Dawe does, Outstanding!
