This book changed my mind about a lot of things.

When I started listening to this book, I thought I would hate it. I've always considered myself to be pro-choice. This book is about a girl who was raped, found out she was going to have a baby, and decided to carry the child to term even though everyone around her suggested abortion. Some of her closest friends even demanded it. I started reading the book thinking that I could understand a girl in such a situation deciding not to have the child. The story was really enjoyable, and I found myself wondering if the guilt and shame a young mother would have after aborting a child would be something hard to get over. Maybe, even in such a horrible situation, bringing a life into this world can still be a beautiful thing.

Good anti abortion story.

Being pro life, it is a good and also a sad book. It pretty well describes what is happening in today's world that kills 3 million babes per year. Good job Ms. Rivers.

Attonement Child

Even though this book has been on the shelves for years it is still relevant in presenting the abortion issue. It does represent the Christian view, which I personally share, but also many different aspects of why woman have abortions. The ripple effect that it sends across the family and generations. As an adopted child, I want to believe my birth Mother loved me in her womb. I am grateful I was not aborted. Overall, an excellent book. I could barely put it down. The narrative was somewhat annoying at times. But the story trumped her voice.

Utterly Captivating, Deeply Touching

The Atonement Child is an extraordinary look at abortion, the seeds of destruction it sows, the bitter harvest it yields, and the redemption that is available just for the asking. I was deeply moved.

Another great one

loved the story but couldn't connect with the narrator's voice. overall happy with the book and it's message but the performance was hard for me to get through. the voice didn't match the characters but was pleasant to listen to, as if your grandmother was reading you the book.

Fiction but not...

Kudos to F. R. for tackling an extremely sensitive topic. I believe she did an excellent job of addressing the complexity on the subject. It is not an "easy read". I found a few of the narrator's character voices to be irritating. That said, I would still read it again.

Powerful Message

Did Ruth Ann Phimister do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

My biggest qualm with this book was that, while the characters were easy to differentiate, the narrator's voice could be annoying at times - particularly when voicing the main character.

Any additional comments?

This is very classic Francine Rivers - great message, solid writing. There were a few parts that dragged or that seemed redundant, but overall, I didn't want to stop listening.
