About this listen

Following the success of the earlier volume, The Baker Street Epilogue, we have another collection of previously unknown Holmes and Watson tales to excite the interests of listeners across the globe—The Baker Street Archive.

A decade before his death, Dr. Watson let it be known that with his passing he wished his nephew, Christopher Henry Watson, MD, to be the executor of his will and guardian of all his personal and pecuniary affairs. One of the tasks he sanctioned was that his nephew should use his discretion in selecting for publication some of the three dozen or so cases involving Holmes and Watson that had not already seen the light of day.

The six stories in this new volume are more overlooked gems. From the seemingly supernatural challenge of The Neckar Reawakening to the seasonal conundrum of The Yuletide Heist, there is, as ever, much to entertain and enthrall us.

As before, all of these tales are designed to contribute in some small part to the lasting memory of two extraordinary men who once occupied that setting we have come to know and love as 221B Baker Street. Once more: "The game is afoot!"

Narration niggles.

Pardon my, uh, French… but isn’t the name “DUFRESNE” pronounced “DUE-FRAYNE”? So why does our narrator, who’s French accent actually gets singled out and complimented by Watson at one point, insist on saying “DUFRESS-UH-NAY”?

I’ll tell you why - because he’s either the wrong man for this job, or he’s sloppy and lazy and doesn’t research his roles, or the producer / audio editor is sloppy and lazy and doesn’t review their project before publishing.

No GOOD answer, I can tell you that much. Heck, I don’t even speak French and I could tell that Langan butchered the pronunciation and delivery of any and all passages en “parlezvous francese”.

Ah I jest. But it’s truly not a funny matter. I hear it all too often. Amateur mistakes in the narrator’s pronunciation and / or delivery. I simply don’t understand why there is no final review process to check for such errors before announcing the finished product.

JUST. DON’T. UNDERSTAND.

More Sherlock Holmes

Great stories that would fit right into the Canon. The couple that were just stories and not mysteries were good but not my favorites. The performance on all of them was excellent.

Sherlock for the win

I could never have too much Sherlock Holmes. I find his deductive reasoning and sharp mind intriguing and fascinating to watch in action. This was a great addition to his previous sleuthing efforts. It you're a fan, this is a must listen. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.

Another great Mower collection

A nice collection of Holmesian mysteries. Mower has proven that he has the chops and can deliver short stories that rival and often surpass the crowd.

Another winner

The stories were enjoyable, with enough twists and turns to make the solution even more exciting.
The narrator did an outstanding job, with a variety of different voices.

another repeated tale

the stories are well written, the narrator is easy to listen too. But listener beware there is a repeat story from another collection by this publisher. it is getting irritating.
