About this listen

It is 1884, and when a fellow landlady finds her lodger poisoned, Mrs. Hudson turns to Sherlock Holmes.

The police suspect the landlady of murder, but Mrs. Hudson insists that her friend is innocent. Upon investigating, the companions discover that the lodger, a civil servant recently returned from India, was living in almost complete seclusion, and that his last act was to scrawl a mysterious message on a scrap of paper.

The riddles pile up as aged big game hunter Allan Quatermain is spotted at the scene of the crime when Holmes and Watson investigate. The famous man of mind and the legendary man of action will make an unlikely team in a case of corruption, revenge, and what can only be described as magic …

Interesting and interesting engaging mashup

Bringing together Holmes in Quartermaine was a inspired choice. The narrative moves quickly and the characters are engaging.

Great story

As usual, I like Lovegrove’s Holmes, but kudos must be given to Kleinsman here for pronouncing those clicks!

Wonderful adaptation of the original works👏

Man i cant express how surprised and ecstatic i was once i got into this story. Lovegrove brought to life everything i loved about the original works of ACD's Sherlock and even made the overall book a bit more comprehensive than the original storys. Possibly just because the format is a bit different, it being full novel length instead of short storys. I would never go so far as to say that this work surpasses the originals but i will dare to say they come as close as possible to matching up with them. The dialect and kinda pompous words Watson always likes to use were spot on, the dialog and camaraderie betwixt Holme's and Watson was beautifully done. Even down to the smallest details such as Sherlocks little observations and then explanations were perfect. He also does an amazing job with the background and timeline/explanations of sherlock history and discussing with us (the audience) about when he wrote what and when this took place and everything seemed as real as the original was made to sound. It fit together perfectly with the orginal works... im SO glad i picked this up. Ive sifted through several duds trying to find an author able to recreate even a bit of the magic the orginal works made me feel and this author has DONE IT. Excuse me while i go buy every book in this series rightnow...
