About this listen

The Hendricks family has long known that it’s wise to be careful what you wish for...dark family secrets have a way of finding their way to the light. Unfortunately, enemies usually aren’t too far behind.

Grace had never been more terrified...the pain was relentless.
Nothing in her life prepared her for this.
She desperately needed somewhere safe...someplace she could hide.
Someone she could trust with her life.
It was dark...and getting darker.

Ronan Hendricks didn’t recognize her voice.
Not family...not friends.
Probably not an enemy.
But he didn’t need the years he’d spent as a detective to recognize what he did hear...
Fear.

In a desperate moment of hope, a single number saved her life. Then a complete stranger opened his home offering safety yet Grace knew danger surrounded them...when the pain allowed her to think clearly. But she knew she needed him to stay alive because someone wanted her dead...like her sister.

Ethan Hendricks wasn’t thrilled that his private investigator brother was involved in his current murder investigation. He’d had a bad feeling about it from the moment he walked through the crime scene. The second time through wasn’t any better.

Maya Fenton had very few choices...unfortunately all of them included facing a ghost from her past. But she’s discovered secrets...potentially deadly secrets that could no longer stay hidden in the dark.

Grace is determined to help unravel the mystery behind her sister’s violent murder. Their investigation includes Grace and her sister’s business records...numbers don’t lie. They eventually point them in an unexpected direction that reveals a harsh and bitter truth...there is no greater betrayal than when it comes from within.

There is nothing closer than family.

As they continue to look for clues in her sister’s murder, Grace and Ronan along with trusted family and friends both new and old, discover possible evidence of hidden secrets, betrayal, and deception. Their search for answers may take them in a direction they didn’t expect.

Very boring

Storyline was predictable and boring. It should have been one book. The long introduction into every short book was annoying and not necessary. Listening to this so called series was a waste of time!

Lack Luster Narration

The story was futuristic with a contemporary feel. The narration did not incorporate voice inflection where needed. I would have enjoyed a less abrupt end to book 10.

Hard to follow

I didn’t really enjoy the series. It was hard to follow along. I had to keep re-listening to parts of the book. The climax was in the beginning of the book.

Good story

I enjoyed these books very much. The story had good development and suspense. The progression of the romance between Grace and (Dylan?) was too quick given the tragedy she was experiencing. Otherwise, very good books. The narrator was a bit monotone and indistinguishable between characters but if I paid close attention, I could follow. Quite enjoyable.

She’s My Sister

Good story line and the ending was as mysterious as the beginning. I would rather hear the narrative in a human voice than a computer voice, a human can use expression to navigate the story more effectively and knows were to stop and begin a sentence, paragraph, and chapter.

Money Rules

The story line started off slow, but eventually picked up. It was enjoyable, I would definitely recommend listening and exploring the author other works.

AI reader

The story line was ok, but there was a lot of redundancy in words and phrases. Other ‘everyday’ words for the characters were not described to the listener leaving me to figure out what was being talked about.

The AI generated reader did ok with reading patterns, but left the story dry and somewhat harder to follow in the conversations that were happening throughout.

The passage of time in the book didn’t feel real either. It might be because the separate ‘books’ were supposed to break it, but honestly I was lost in the timing most of the way through.

Not what I expected

I liked the story I guess. I did not like the end. I felt like the story was not finished, on all the little substories. I was not left looking for the next book but for the end of this one.

No conclusion

Each “book” in this box set was closer in length to a short story than a novella. Each just led to the next—never an ending to any of the stories. If I had read one of these as a freestanding story, I would not have read any more. But since this was supposed to be a complete box set, I expected a conclusion at the end of book 10. That didn’t happen. There was no conclusion. The story was set in the 23rd century, but communicators replaced cellphones, gliders replaced elevators, travel ports replaced airports, and televideo replaced television. There was little to indicate the future setting. This was billed as a clean read, and it was, but the author crammed as many “damns” and “hells” into some sentences as possible. I actually liked the plot line of a woman misdialing a number by one digit and saving her life, but unfortunately it wasn’t carried out well or to a conclusion.

Christian author? Not with that language!!!

I did not like that it shows up as Christian fiction but has inappropriate content! Grrr!
