About this listen

Micky Ferro has lived her entire life according to other people's expectations. She married a man, had two children, and became a dutiful stay-at-home mom in suburban Sydney. Until she realized, with a little help from her best friend, that her picture-perfect life wasn't making her happy.

On the first anniversary of her divorce, Micky decides it's time for the next step in her journey and gets a job at her neighborhood coffee shop, The Pink Bean. Becoming a barista sparks a big change in Micky's daily routine, but could loud-spoken American customer Robin do the same for her love life? Contains mature themes.

Much needed story

A topic that doesn't get covered much- but needs to be. My only complaint is that I wish the book was longer...

Well done

I vote Ms Bliss' writing is becoming exquisite. What I loved? Over 40 characters and fantastic narration.

Pros: smart characters, good dialogue, realistic coming out jitters
Cons: well, it's a romance so some of the sex scenes are bound to come with typical commentary.

Familiar theme...

I could so relaye to this story as I, too, was,a,late-bien. Monkey's story took me back to my own coming out after having been married to a man, having 2 kids and coming to terms, at 42, with,my attraction to women. Very well written and very poignant for me.

As always, an absolute gem of a story

I didn’t care much for the reader BUT she wasn’t all too horrible. She did fine. I just didn’t think her voice fit with this story. She kind of gave me a granny vibe? Like my grandmother was reading this story to me and well, made me feel a bit ick during the love scenes. But as I mentioned, she wasn’t horrible. Story was excellent as all of Harper Bliss’s books I’ve listened or read, are. The men in these womens’ lives always seem so understanding. Makes it all the better for a fantasy love story. Not fantasy as in the genre but as if a woman questioning her sexual after an amicable divorce can fantasize about.

Not particularly memorable

Fantastic narration by Angela Dawe, but unfortunately a predictable unremarkable plot and forgettable characters.

Wonderful story

Loved the confusion and emotions throughout. i think I wanted an Australian narrator coupled with an American one…

terrible. don't bother

I don't know why I continue to try books by this author. I thought an audio version might be better than reading the print version. No such luck. Bad verbiage. Scenes that are partially nonsensical, and overly repetitive lines.

First Book in Marvelous Series

Micke had divorced her husband a year ago and now that she and her two teenagers were settled in the new neighborhood she needs something to do. At the urging of her best friend she take a job at The Pink Bean, a lesbian friendly coffee shop. In her forties she gets a chance at her first relationship with Robin, an American woman. Great performance and author. Recommend Series.
