About this listen

Lacey Doyle, 39 years old and freshly divorced, has made a drastic change: She has walked away from the fast life of New York City and settled down in the quaint English seaside town of Wilfordshire.

With Halloween fast approaching, Lacey lucks out when she’s given a rare, ancient book that’s perfect for her upcoming spooky auction. But after the book is sold to a buyer, the mysterious book vanishes before she can deliver it. Even stranger, the equally mysterious seller has disappeared - just as a body turns up dead.

With her reputation on the line, Lacey finds herself in the fight of her life to save her business and clear her name - and, with the help of her beloved dog, to solve the mysterious disappearance.

Chartacters

I enjoy the reader voice and calmness of her tones because I listen while sleeping.
I enjoy the continuous update of the search of the dad .
The character always herself in the mix .
It did throw me in this title being a professional woman one taught in the trade that she thought the book she retrieved was for sale without a price and just made up her own !

I felt she took advantage of another person ignorance. And yes she was at fault of the outcome.

They books and i have listened to several do have a repeated pattern.

But I think that what make me comfortable with the author everyone is recognizable.
Still a faithful listener 🥰

One of the best

Narration was easier to get into, the story was cohesive and definitely compelling. Excellent continuation of the Dad story. But it has been drawn out too long. And not enough clues as to the circumstances of his early life. Overall a worthy read.

Love the narration and "whodoneit" cozy mystery

I abfolutely love the narrator, and keep listening to the series mostly due to to her soothing voice. But I feel that the character development of the protagonist has stalled. I am also really annoyed by the whole "search for her dad" storyline and protagonist's obsession with him. Enough is enough, I am in agreement with Tom about the matter. Also, if the author positions Lacey as a successful antique dealer, it is unrealistic that she would not get the items valued by a specialist, when in doubt, like with the book.
