About this listen

You know what the Wild West needs?

Vampires.

The night before the high noon showdown, Sheriff Pete had mortality on his mind. Then, the town’s fastest woman knocked on his door. He thought she was there to take his mind off things...

Until her fangs came out.

Now Pete’s gotta rectify his innate sense of justice with a growing desire to devour everyone in sight. A small cadre of vampire hunters would be just the place for him, but they have one condition...

...if he drinks blood, his partner will waste him on the spot.

To make matters worse, she’s the meanest, purdiest woman he’s ever laid eyes on.

The Wild West just got wilder.

Saddle up and grab your copy, let’s hit the trail before nightfall.

‘Cause night is when the real fun starts.

The Wild West Gets Wild

The old west meets vampires and one pretty one at that. All in all it is pretty good for fantasy. If you like westerns and fantasy than this should be right up your alley. C.J. McAllister does a good job of narrating.

Not your typical wester or typical vampire and werewolf story

I didn’t think I was going to be a huge fan of this one. I was looking for something to pass the time. I like westerns and I like vampires and werewolf’s, so it peaked my interest. I assumed it was going to be the stereotypical wolves vs vamps story, which in a way it is. But it is unique it has it’s own little twists. I’m staying vague as I don’t want to spoil anything for the readers/listeners. I think this is worth your time if you like a little wild west and a decent vamp and werefolk story. It is a little narrow ok the characters but it’s enough to keep interest and develop a decent story. I do plan on reading the second book in the series.

I liked the narrator, he fit the part well but can seem a bit monotone at times, but not enough to turn me away. There is a lot of inner dialog in this book, and towards the beginning I thought that would throw me off, I still ended up listening to chapter after chapter in anticipation. I would recommend this book.

Great blend of supernatural and western

Really enjoyed the way the author took vampires and were’s and spun them
Into a western. The Mc is a turned sheriff Of a small town that resents being turned, hasn’t tasted blood 🩸 and wishes to join the pack
Of were’s that hunt the vampires. What he finds is a plot far bigger than he can handle along with a spot of romance. Really enjoyable tale and look forward to the next installment. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Not Your Grandfather's Old West

Most vampire stories written these days fall under either the urban fantasy or horror genres and take place in either the twentieth or twenty-first centuries. Thomas puts a nice twist on the genre by placing his story in the Old West and postulating that a war is going on between vampires trying to expand their numbers and lycanthropes striving to destroying them.

Pete is a lawman who finds himself turned, but not yet lost to the pure evil and bloodlust of full-on vampirism. He gets captured by a tribe of were-coyotes who give him a chance to prove that despite his new condition, he remains on the side of the angels. It’s a great way to introduce a new series, because Pete doesn’t know anything about the supernatural world he now inhabits and his painful lessons educate the reader as well.

Vampires prey on each other as much as people, running fight clubs in which they square off against each other as gladiators. Pete has to find a way to survive the club without completing his turn, while simultaneously figuring out a way to destroy the vampires abusing him. It’s a great first book to a promising new series.

An Entertaining Supernatural Western.

Silver Bullet is a hybrid of a western and a supernatural, horror story. It's got vampires and werebeasts and an interesting story. Although, for me, it was a bit too short of a story, I definitely enjoyed Silver Bullet. My one complaint is that the author, J. M. Thomas, wrote no dialog for the lead female character. She wrote her as a strong woman, but then she wouldn't let her speak. At no point in the book does she utter one line of dialog even though she isn't mute. I don't know what the thought process behind that choice was, but I definitely didn't care for the choice.

As with most books now-a-days, Silver Bullet is set up for sequel stories and I look forward to book two when it becomes available. Finally, this free, review copy audiobook was given to me at my request and I have voluntarily left this review

not your average western

I really enjoyed this story.
I'm a big fan of western movies, the quick and the dead, tombstone, purgatory, exc. this is my first western book and it didn't disappoint. it does have it's own twist which was done well. it didnt feel over played or like it's trying to be like that sparkly movie. at first, when I read the name I was weary because of what I thought the silver part would bring. I shouldnt of been and glad that I didnt let it stop me from listening.

you grow a connection to the mc and another character that makes you wanting more of the story, so I cant wait for the next part and to see where it leads.

the narrator, does a great job at making this feel like a western with how he reads the book, the voice he gives makes you feel like your sitting in a bar listening to a old cowboy tell his story.

Cowboys, werebeasts and vampires.

It's hard to underestimate how entertaining this story was. A rugged sheriff on a mission to avoid falling to his new instincts and a fun tale of action, and drama. A lot was packed into this story for it's length. The best part of the story was the narrator. they got the perfect guy to read it and it added a lot to the story.

Old fashioned western meets supernatural

Old fashioned western meets supernatural tv show. Well at least it feels like Bobby is in here. :)

This feels like an old timer western novel I’d see on my uncles book shelf. However it mixes in the supernatural. So for any classic western novel lover who wants to read six-if while also enjoying their western.

Feels like the same style as Bubba the monster hunter just western instead of Redneck.

nice surprise

much better than anticipated, this is a full story, not just an excuse to write steamy scenes. I really like our heroes and they have real personalities, not just characatures...
I will definitely be picking up the next one in the series.

C.J. does a wonderful job and his gruff cowboy voice is do good I suspect he grew up on a ranch :)

Wild West With A Twist

Overall I really enjoyed this book. It was an interesting twist for a western to have vampires but I enjoyed it. The narration was really well done too.
