About this listen

Tall, dark, and exquisitely sensual, he is the epitome of male perfection. Not that Claudia Martin is looking for a lover. Or a husband. As owner and headmistress of Miss Martin's School for Girls in Bath, she long ago resigned herself to a life without love. Until Joseph, Marquess of Attingsborough, arrives unannounced and tempts her to toss away a lifetime of propriety for an affair that can only lead to ruin.

Joseph has his own reasons for seeking Claudia out. Instantly, irresistibly attracted to the dedicated teacher, he embarks on a plan of seduction that leaves them both yearning for more. But as heir to a prestigious dukedom, Joseph is expected to carry on his family's legacy. And Claudia knows she has no place in his world.

Now that world is about to be rocked by scandal. An arranged marriage, a secret that will shock the town, and a man from Claudia's past conspire to drive the lovers apart. But Joseph is determined to make Claudia his at any cost. Even if that means defying convention and breaking every rule for a love that is everything he has ever wanted - a love that is perfection itself.

Flawed But Loved It

I have a weakness for Mary Balogh and am willing to overlook some major eyerolls when I read her stuff. i don't care. The overall romance is still heartfelt and heartwarming so worth it.

This book has a lot of eyerolls and some embarassingly bad writing at times but I still devoured it. I loved the H and h even though they had ZERO sexual chemistry lol. They had love chemistry. I had to just FF through the horridly awkward sex scenes they were just absolutely ridiculous.

The villianous Portia is so over the top evil she just becomes silly. Major eyerolls. Her comments are where ridiculously bad writing comes in.

Still, I really enjoyed this book. Loved seeing the rest of the Bedwyns and loved the character of Lizzy. Its cheesy at times, saccharine sweet at times, but I still loved it

Loved this 4th book

I love a mature character romance. It was a little difficult to feel the physical chemistry between the two characters, but their emotional connection was wonderful.

Made up for book 1.

Soooooo much better than the first 3 books of this series. The problems are real, the feelings weren't unreasonably denied, and the characters were believable!

Best of the series

This book was the best of the series. The story was very interesting and even more so because of the children and the life Rosalyn Landor's voice gives them.

Loved the story and the performance.

Another in a terrific series of books by this author. The story is lovely, and as always, Rosalyn Landor never disappoints.

Just great read/listen

Mary Balogh creates another beautiful HEA full of challenges and laughter and intelligence and richness of characters with this 4th in the Simply Quartet series. Nobleman Joseph runs surprisingly headlong into love with the vibrant and strict school mistress Claudia. Adding to my listening pleasure are many personalities from previous books with the Bedwyns making a few "walk-ins" along the way. Of course, Rosalyn Landor as the narrator continues with her sterling performance of all the characters. Simply wonderful.
