About this listen

The only thing worse than being roommates with my rival? Falling for him.

Returning to my small hometown after I crashed and burned in the city is bad enough. Having my lifelong rival, Wes Stryker, rub it in my face doesn't make it easier.

Even worse, I'm hired to help him pull his family's distillery out of a rough patch. Oh, and I'm forced to be his roommate. That means dealing with his annoying flirting and one-upping all day, every day.

He's unbearably cocky, and his dimpled smile charms everyone with a pulse—except for me.

At least until he starts to make me ugly laugh, and I see glimpses of his big heart under the side he shows everyone else. Resisting him when he wanders around the house in nothing but sweatpants, undressing me with his eyes? Not possible.

But I've sworn off charmers like him, and the last man I let into my heart destroyed my confidence and my career. I won't make that mistake again.

Great beginning to a new series

I enjoyed this audiobook. The male narrator was very good. The female is as well but I’ve purchased several books read by J Y Kora.

Good Story

I really liked both the FMC and the MMC. Both grew a lot throughout the story. The banter and the slow burn was great!

Can’t wait for the next the series.

Love at First Listen

This is my first book by this author. I enjoyed the narration, the premise and the characters. I was so excited about seeing where the story went that I finished it in a few hours. I'm looking forward to hearing more from Audrey Vaughn.

Hmmmm

Book starts.

Me: oh okay… so they’re bartenders… yep, small town bartenders… why are they in a bubble? There are basically no other characters… okaaaaaay… odd… damn has it only been 20min?… DO. NOT. DNF… give it a chance… oh god 🤦‍♀️ they’re UNNECESSARILY COMPETITIVE bartenders, could anything worse… THIS IS so BOOOOORING… oh goody she’s been bartending for years, entered competitions, even got signed to do a MIXOLOGY TV SHOW but somehow has basic skills 🥱…. is this woman clinically depressed?… does this woman have an anxiety disorder?… oh lord, the ‘rivalry’ is just two super incompatible people… again, how come these two people in a highly social profession have no friends?… does this author think that black women are just a personality-less pile of bonnets and locs? jfc… 🥱… omg these two reality tv watching idiots deserve each other…

FOR 4 HOURS

until…

Without any warning, without any kissing, without a tender feeling between them, they strip, get into 69 position, she plants her pussy on his face, and a CUM COMPETITION starts. UMMM…what? The scene was like smelling salts. Good morning! I’m awake!

In conclusion: There’s no interracial tension. No energy. There’s no clear arc in this relationship just awkward jumps. And we have an author who “did research” (heaven forfend!) so this book sounds like her in-class presentation on drink making. I would have loved some, oh, idk, drama? desire? passion? But that’s just me.
