Publisher's summary

You can’t escape reality, when your enemies haunt your dreams.

All her life, Evangeline dreamed of finding her purpose. Now that she has, she is certain that she doesn’t want to fulfil it. Especially not when it could tip the scales in the war, that’s brewing between The Gifted.

Evangeline must travel to the Fae communities to convince them that, although there is darkness within her, she is on the side of light. Tensions rise, trust is betrayed, and those closest to her might not have her best interests at heart. The very darkness that she wields seeps its way into her dreams throughout her travels. This time, someone new enters them. Someone that seems to be trying to communicate with her. Is it a warning of danger to come, or simply an unending memory of her failure to rid the world of The Veils leader?

This was way better than the first

The first book almost put me off on trying this one, but I'm glad I did listen to it. It was more detailed, and it keeps you interested from beginning to end. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new read, or in this case. listen lol

Book 2 met all expectations - totally captivating

Book 2 of the Rise of Ares Series 'Siren Dreams' continues seamlessly from Book 1, 'Siren Calls'. I hardly blinked and book 2 was completed, barely noticing the substantial 6 hours and 50 minute length. It takes a talented author and narrator partnership to make every chapter of a book fly without any lags or loss of focus for the listener. There is a great flow and pace with adventure on every page turn.

So much happened in Book 2 - We the listeners go to know so many of the characters deeply and we watch Evangeline struggle and overcome with 100% determination and grit. Each of the side plots is relevant, fun and totally engaging. Questions are resolved and new questions raised, setting the scene perfectly for Book 3 and the finale of the group's quest to save the world and also forge fulfilling lives for themselves.

Friendships and partner bonds are teased, tested and ultimately strengthened in Book 2. Every character was a captivating and essential addition and each one would be worthy of their own book (hint hint Jade Frances). Of note, I am 100% Team Adam and I would love to read more of his backstory, the nuances of pack life (as uniquely reimagined in this series) and the twisted path Adam's young life took.

With my knowledge of the characters and world exponentially increased by Book 2, I move with anticipation to Book 3 and the series finale.

This is a must get

I loved this. I actually felt like I was there with the characters. Jade Frances does a wonderful job building the world and the characters. The narrator brings them to life. I believe that this is a must read. I can't wait to read more.

An interesting story

I enjoyed this story but being book 2, I was a little confused at first since I have not read The first one. However it was a classic case of good vs evil. Poor Evangeline was trying to understand her purpose & her superior wasn't exactly helpful. Her friends helped her as much as possible. I think that some couldn’t get past her dark powers that she posses. Many great characters & challenging foes. A great read.

Good but...

This is a book good vs evil and it’s going to be a saga. I like most of the characters but even those you don’t like make the story. I don’t feel like this was a complete story with in the saga though. Nothing major is resolved or decided. A lot of things happen and you are constantly thinking but are they really a bad guy. The book ends in a cliffhanger of sorts with the bomb that was dropped. It also flows from the first book into this one. But this book didn’t answer any questions. To me if just made so many more. Will Evie embrace the darkness? Will she be good or evil? What’s up with yvetta because something isn’t right. Will Evie choose a guy or guys? Will Sandra lose the stick up her butt? What’s really going on with Cole? I’m totally invested in this story and I need answers but the end of this book get more like a let’s put a bookmark here and pick up tomorrow. I get not wanting a 600 page book but I would rather have a big fat book then one that nothing really was resolved. I don’t Need a happy ever after but a mini story among the bigger story is preferred. So hopefully the next one will be out soon because I have lots of questions and I need answers!

Baskerville Book Reviews

Much like book 1, book 2 feels like the middle section of a book. It’s mostly continued world-building. Normally I try to add a bit of substance to my reviews, but I really just don’t know what to say.

The pace in these stories is very slow. I’ve been listening at 1.8x speed and 2.55x speed and it still feels slow to me. If you enjoyed part 1, you’ll enjoy part 2. The same narrator (Michelle Shure) returns and does an excellent job, as before.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed this book as much as I’ve enjoyed part 1. While these books have been incredibly slow, I don’t mind. I’ve found them to be relaxing listens. I recommend them to people who either enjoy or don’t mind slow-paced stories and just want a cozy fantasy story.

Engrossing SciFi Fantasy Story

Siren Dreams flows well from the first book Siren Calls. The storyline is fast paced and only gets better as the book goes on. The characters are intriguing and enjoyable even the ones that I don't like but they help the plot to flow. Michelle Shure again does an phenomenal job bringing the characters and storyline alive. if you like Science fiction and Fantasy I highly recommend this series.

interesting story.

this is the second book I've listened to from this author as well as the narrator.
the narrator does a good job, I prefer to listen to it at a faster speed so I set it to 1.4

there is a lot going on in the story, I still can't get a grasp on the love story or triangle that seems to be building I wish that was a little clearer. she seems so confused or naive when it comes to her and the boys in her life.

there is lots of action and drama which does keep it interesting. it does end in a cliffhanger and am interested to see how it ends in the third book.

Nothing Major resolved or Decieded

The story is interesting, but with all that is going on from both book 1& 2 nothing is Resolved. Also this ends with a Cliffhanger and no one knowing where any of the Problems are heading.
First book fantastic second book big build up but NO Resolutions. Narrator does a good job with the characters voices and with the storyline.
