About this listen

Kai never met Mama. But based on her own abilities, and those who call her kin, she knows Mama wasn't human. Kai finds things. In post-Katrina New Orleans, everyone's lost something, though most can't afford to pay. Kai's latest client, a siren, hires Kai to find her sister. Sirens need both men and water, and can call them. The kidnapped sister is being held on dry ground...while another storm brews off the coast of New Orleans.

Good story, Interesting world building

I was surprised by this story. I wasn't sure I was going to like it and then I got caught up in the world building and wanted to find out more about the floating court and life behind the scenes of New Orleans. Wish it was part of a series because I would love to read more of Kai's adventures. It just feels so unfinished to leave it off with one story alone. Well done!

Well written and book loved the characters!

This was a realiy great listen the narrator did a great job bringing the story to life. This is my first book by Leah Cutter and it won't be the last. I found the world-building to be fasinating and I would love to see more of these characters.

Sirens call

This book was an interesting fantasy story that kept me trying to figure out the mysterious location of the mission siren.

sigh...

After enjoying 100+ audiobooks in 4 months.... I kept thinking if different narrator can offer a better experience... but eventually concluded it's lack of character development (intended by author or not) caused most of my confusion and frustration in the process.

For post-Katrina New Orleans fantasy, Alys Arden who grew up in the city did a much better job. And of course the superb narration by Kate Rudd helps.
