About this listen

This tale of healers with “talents” is the sixth in a series of stories featuring the psychically talented members of the Hyllis family. Hundreds of years after a plague induced apocalypse collapsed civilization back to iron and horsepower, the Hyllises have a genetic tendency to inherit “talents”. Eva Hyllis and her ancestors became healers because their talents let them feel inside their patients. This helps them diagnose the underlying causes of many illnesses. Eva’s children Tarc and Daussie have inherited telekinetic and teleportation talents. Their cousin Kazy’s a telepath. Telekinetic pressure can stop bleeding, teleportation can remove arterial plaques, and telepathy can provide anesthesia and correct psychopathy. In this audiobook, they set out on a treacherous journey to treat Eva’s sister who’s dying of cancer. And they keep finding more conditions that can be treated by their talents.

After five books with Christopher Lane as the narrator, we now have Alyssa Bresnahan as the narrator. While it is typically a disaster to switch narrators this late in a series (e.g. the Stasis Stories, also by Laurence Dahners), here it makes no real difference because this story is told more from Eva, the mother's perspective, so the different narration felt normal.

As to the story, if you liked the past ones, you will equally enjoy this one as it is just a continuation of the telekinetic Hyllis family's story.

Jumped the shark. hard to tell if it's mostly the voice acting, but the story may have fallen off it was hard to tell. The pronouncing of names even changed what sounded like Casey to Kazza. So after 5 or so books it's the same guy, then you trade to someone who can't pronounce the names the same. if I could refund I would.

Making note of this from Amazon. they hire people to read even established titles with non qualified people.

if I could see how to get money back I would. Change of voice acting is disruptive.
