About this listen

When desire gets this hot, you’d better buckle up....

Mary Daniels doesn’t let anything get in the way of her job acquiring rare artifacts for her wealthy boss. But this particular obstacle - huge, hard-muscled, unashamedly masculine - is impossible to ignore. Stuck in a cramped car with Brodie Crews for hours en route to their new assignment, Mary feels her carefully crafted persona - and her trademark self-control - is slipping, and she won’t allow it.

Brodie can’t imagine what secret in Mary’s past has left her so buttoned-up, though he’d dearly love to find out. Maybe then she’d trust him enough to explore their explosive chemistry. But he needs this job, so he’ll play by her rules and bide his time...until an enemy determined to outwit them strikes and he needs to get close - in every way - to protect her. Otherwise they could lose much more than a precious collectible. They could lose it all.

Fast read

Not one of my favorites of Lori Foster but it was entertaining enough. Had a couple of cute spots with humor and it was a quick read.

Little Red Rider

Mysterious, sexy, entertaining and suspenseful.John Lane has such a deep, manly voice, goes great with the character he portrays as Brodie and what a manly man Brodie is.The fact that John has such a deep voice doesn’t detract from his ability to voice the other characters. The story is great, can’t wait for the next book in the series.

At first I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book. Lori Foster is my all time favorite authors and I quickly realized she didn’t disappoint on this book either! Loved it. About to start Jacks story now!

Loved IT!

I haven’t read or listened to a Lori Foster book in a few years. WHY the heck not. I forgot how much she makes me feel by the time I am done I always have a feel good feeling like a big hug.

I really enjoyed this unique job Mary Daniels has. She works for a millionaire who likes to collect the really strange and weird things.
I liked that she was so put together, she is a pretty straightforward gal and it takes a lot to ruffle her and ruffle her Brodie Crew’s does.
I loved the tension between these two; oh they try and fight it but its enviable when they are thrust together so much.

Brodie’s protectiveness shines through as well and I enjoyed that more than I thought I would.
I wasn’t really sure if these two were just too different but they work, and Mary isn’t a pushover at all which I love. But neither is Brodie and if he wants something bad enough he goes for it.

I really liked the narration, I think this might be a first for me by John Lane but it won’t be the last, even the “female” parts had me engaged.

Good

A very good romantic story that I enjoyed. I wasn't terribly hip on the female protagonist at first, the uptight stuff, and the male protagonist, while good, wasn't one of my favorite heroes. Still a good story and romance. It didn't wow me, though.

Talk to Me Some More

While I loved this story, I could listen to John Lane’s voice all day. I find it’s low timbre soothing, regardless of the storyline.

However, once again I loved the strong family dynamic in this tale - unwavering love & support from all sides, mixed in with an unusual business occupation.

And Howler - what a good boy!

Manly men and damaged women

The series features hunky protective guys and damaged gals who get together amid a little adventure. There’s occasional F bombs and described, but not overly crass, naughty parts. This book features Mary and Brodie (brother to book 2’s Jack). Books 1 & 2 follow such similar playbooks, I feel like I should have just picked one and listened to it twice. I liked this a little better than book 2 because Mary is less damaged than Ronnie and Brodie’s gravelly pillow talk was delicious.

The thriller:
Mary is a buttoned up mouse who helps a rich guy obtain weird tchotchkes and memorabilia. Any danger elements and action sequences are few and far between, serving only to give Brodie a chance to be a hero and for petite Mary to be protected.

The romance:
The relationship is unbalanced, with Brodie being the self assured rock and Mary being the control freak with tons of baggage. Ronnie’s got issues with trust, intimacy, body positivity and mama drama. The romance side is Brodie constantly working to win her over, get her to feel comfortable with his family, and build her confidence in bed. For me this was more on the sweet, slow burn end, although there are two nicely smoldering scenes at 4 and 6.5 hrs.

The parts that worked best for me:
I like narrator Lane for his deliciously deep male voices and his decent female voices. I found the fun, fire, and frisky “action and amore” concept to be on the average end for all three books. I enjoyed the interactions of the Crews family that ties all three books together. Even though cliche, I also like the theme of protecting animals, such as the back story for dog Howler.

Awful

I usually love this author, but I stopped about 1/2 way through. The story is so ridiculous and the actions but the characters is even dumber. Seriously what kind of person meets up in shady place to buy stuff with nothing. No body cam no weapons and the female lead is so annoying and stupid that she wants to meet people alone and leave the driver to stay in the car. Who does that? I’m good with women power but this is just stupidity. The story has no substance

Don’t waste a credit

Just a little action in between the porn. All a woman needs is a tragic past, big breasts, and long red hair to make a hairy man with big biceps worship her. The best thing about the book is the cover art.
