About this listen

Love comes along when it's least wanted.

Jason Guthrie has no time for entanglements - between helping out his widowed brother and teenage nephew and getting his hometown back on its feet, his days are spoken for. But his nights are another story.... And when his lovely new neighbor, Honor Brown, reluctantly accepts his help in remodeling her house, Jason finds himself wishing his handyman skills could knock down the defenses she keeps building around herself.

Martial arts teacher Sullivan Dean knows real danger when he sees it - even when it takes the form of the gorgeous blonde helping her friend move in across the street. After putting his wayward past behind him to focus on teaching control to troubled kids, Sullivan has learned to avoid party girls like Lexie Perkins. But Sullivan can't seem to keep his hands off the real woman behind that flirty charm - or keep his heart from landing at her feet.

Amazing romantic read

Such a great book. The story is absolutely beautiful. Very heartwarming end, it took me a little less than a week to listen to it and I would listen to it again without hesitation!

A- rating...

My Review:
Overall: 4.25
Performance: 4.0
Story: 4.25

It's been a few years since I've read a Lori Foster book, and I had forgotten just how much I enjoy her writing. This book was really, really good. In fact, I did unplanned housework, just so I could keep listening to this audiobook. NOW THAT is the sign of a good book...LOL.

This book is about Honor. She just bought a new house that needs a lot of work. It's in a neighborhood where a lot of the houses need a lot of work, so most of them are lived in by single (sexy) men who are more than a little overprotective. I loved how gorgeous men just kept showing up on Honor's doorstep, but the one she's attracted to is Jason from next door. He lives there with his older brother, who's had an absolute awful year, and his teenage nephew, Colt (who I loved so, so much!)

Honor is a mystery throughout most the book. It's obvious from the discussions that she has with her bff, Lexie, that she definitely has a story. But it takes a good, long while for it all to come out. In the meantime, Honor is finding out what it means to have good neighbors when all the guys gang up to help her out...something that she doesn't particularly appreciate at first.

There's a whole sub-story about what it takes to be family. I loved how all these guys, and Lexie, became Honor's family...her tribe. They take care of her and watch out for her and stand by her. She's never had that and it makes for a really heart-warming story. While I absolutely loved the romance too, I was surprised to find that my favorite part of this book was the neighborhood and how they all stepped up for her.

There's also a great side-romance between Sullivan and Lexie. I enjoyed it, but think it could have easily been made its own full-length romance novel. There was a lot of depth there that the author didn't explore because it was a side rather than the main story.

And yay...I'm so happy to see that this is #1 in the brothers series. Big brother, (was his name Caleb? I can't remember) has such a fabulously angsty story. I can't wait to read more. This book was absolutely fabulous and I highly recommend the audiobook version. Will Damron did a great job with the narration.

Complicate Me

The story started off real good but then got real dramatic,problematic....etc.Trying not to sound like an unfeeling @$$,I’m gonna start off saying that people die, especially old people, everyday, this happens at some point to everyone and all of us,no one is immune or special for having it happen to them ok.So this is where I think the story goes from potential to down right dreary and depressing.Understandably things happen and never are these things ever convenient and the characters in the story did a great job working through all the drama and heart ache.Honour has been fortunate enough,now...in her life to acquire a whole new family, one she’s never had but always needed and that did come in perfect timing for her.The love story between her Jason was amazing,so sweet, tender, patient and sensual. It was awesome. The narrator did a sexy job doing Jasons voice. He almost had you imagining you were listening to Mathew(and I know I’m misspelling his name probably)McConaughey??He had that slow, sexy drawl to his voice when he took on Jasons character.Deliciously swoon worthy.

Honor catches on slow - but in the end, it works

This is a tale of a woman who has to make it on her own. Armed with a single friend, she has faced down strife, family and infirmity. What a nasty family she has. The things she has had to endure. This book, shows how a person can open themselves up to help and love. How friendship is a balm for the soul. This book is about support. There is romance and very little to no sex. If you looking for steamy, this isn't it. But, if your looking for a sweet comfortable tale it great.

It can be a little long about the middle, with one to many denials here and there. Maybe 20% shorter would do. That said, the narrator, Will Damron did a fine job and made the story work. I liked the other characters. Also, I like the backstory of Alexi and how her story wove in. A nice tidy package. I give this novel a solid thumbs up.

Don't Help Me

Rather than "Don't Tempt Me" the title of this book should have been "Don't Help Me". While I love strong, assertive and independent female characters, I found Honor's attitude of "I am Superwoman and don't need anyone" incredibly annoying.

Being self reliant is normal and reasonable for a mature adult but being a constant martyr is just dumb. I really didn't understand why the hunky and lovable Jason was so enamored with such a cold, uptight and rigid woman.

The rest of the characters (neighbors & their friends/family) and a cute dog almost made up for the boring heroine. The author did an excellent job of creating several sexy males characters who were mature, gentle & non-violent. Also the narrator was excellent.

Waste of time! 15 year old mentality

Positively hated this book. Horrible in every way. Gag!!!! Weak story at best, narrator does his best to make it enjoyable! I bet he needs a drink after reading this garbage! I know I do
